55 : Ar Rahman

SURAH AR-RAHMAN (THE BENEFICENT)

This surah has 78 verses and it is ‘Makki’. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said that reciting this surah on Friday after the dawn prayers carries great reward. surah as-Rahman removes hypocrisy from one’s heart.

On the Day of Judgement, this surah will come in the shape of a human being who will be handsome and will have a very nice scent. Allah (s.w.t) will then tell him to point out those people who used to recite this surah and he will name them. Then he will be allowed to seek pardon for those whom he names and Allah (s.w.t) will pardon them.

The Imam (a.s.) also said that if a person dies after reciting this surah, then is considered a martyr. Writing this surah and keeping it makes all difficulties and problems vanish and also cures eye ailments. Writing it on the walls of a house keeps away all types of household pests. If recited at night, then Allah (s.w.t) sends an angel to guard the reciter until he wakes up and if recited in the daytime then an angel guards him until sunset.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

(1) The Beneficent Allah,

(1) وہ خدا بڑا مہربان ہے

(2) Taught the Quran.

(2) اس نے قرآن کی تعلیم دی ہے

(3) He created man,

(3) انسان کو پیدا کیا ہے

(4) Taught him the mode of expression.

(4) اور اسے بیان سکھایا ہے

(5) The sun and the moon follow a reckoning.

(5) آفتاب و ماہتاب سب اسی کے مقرر کردہ حساب کے ساتھ چل رہے ہیں

(6) And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him).

(6) اور بوٹیاں بیلیں اور درخت سب اسی کا سجدہ کررہے ہیں

(7) And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance

(7) اس نے آسمان کو بلند کیا ہے اور انصاف کی ترازو قائم کی ہے

(8) That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure.

(8) تاکہ تم لوگ وزن میں حد سے تجاوز نہ کرو

(9) And keep up the balance withequity and do not make the measure deficient.

(9) اور انصاف کے ساتھ وزن کو قائم کرو اور تولنے میں کم نہ تولو

(10) And the earth, He has set it for living creatures;

(10) اور اسی نے زمین کو انسانوں کے لئے وضع کیا ہے

(11) Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters,

(11) اس میں میوے ہیں اور وہ کھجوریں ہیں جن کے خوشوں پر غلاف چڑھے ہوئے ہیں

(12) And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance.

(12) وہ دانے ہیں جن کے ساتھ بھس ہوتا ہے اور خوشبودار پھول بھی ہیں

(13) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(13) اب تم دونوں اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(14) He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels,

(14) اس نے انسان کو ٹھیکرے کی طرح کھنکھناتی ہوئی مٹی سے پیدا کیا ہے

(15) And He created the jinn of a flame of fire.

(15) اور جنات کو آگ کے شعلوں سے پیدا کیا ہے

(16) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(16) تو تم دونوں اپنے پروردگار کی کس کس نعمت کو جھٹلاؤ گے

(17) Lord of the East and Lord of the West.

(17) وہ چاند اور سورج دونوں کے مشرق اور مغرب کا مالک ہے

(18) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(18) پھر تم دونوں اپنی رب کی کن کن نعمتوں کو جھٹلاؤ گے

(19) He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together:

(19) اس نے دو دریا بہائے ہیں جو آپس میں مل جاتے ہیں

(20) Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass.

(20) ان کے درمیان حد فا صلِ ہے کہ ایک دوسرے پر زیادتی نہیں کرسکتے

(21) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(21) تو تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کو جھٹلاؤ گے

(22) There come forth from them pearls, both large and small.

(22) ان دونوں دریاؤں سے موتی اور مونگے برآمد ہوتے ہیں

(23) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(23) تو تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کو جھٹلاؤ گے

(24) And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains.

(24) اسی کے وہ جہاز بھی ہیں جو دریا میں پہاڑوں کی طرح کھڑے رہتے ہیں

(25) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(25) تو تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کو جھٹلاؤ گے

(26) Everyone on it must pass away.

(26) جو بھی روئے زمین پر ہے سب فنا ہوجانے والے ہیں

(27) And there will endure for ever the person of your Lord, the Lord of glory and honor.

(27) صرف تمہاری رب کی ذات جو صاحبِ جلال و اکرام ہے وہی باقی رہنے والی ہے

(28) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(28) تو تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کو جھٹلاؤ گے

(29) All those who are in the heavens and the earth ask of Him; every moment He is in a state (of glory).

(29) آسمان و زمین میں جو بھی ہے سب اسی سے سوال کرتے ہیں اور وہ ہر روز ایک نئی شان والا ہے

(30) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(30) تو تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کو جھٹلاؤ گے

(31) Soon will We apply Ourselves to you, O you two armies.

(31) اے دونوں گروہو ہم عنقریب ہی تمہاری طرف متوجہ ہوں گے

(32) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(32) تو تم اپنے پروردگار کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(33) O assembly of the jinn and the men! If you are able to pass through the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass through; you cannot pass through but with authority.

(33) اے گروہ جن و انس اگر تم میں قدرت ہو کہ آسمان و زمین کے اطرف سے باہر نکل جاؤ تو نکل جاؤ مگر یاد رکھو کہ تم قوت اور غلبہ کے بغیر نہیں نکل سکتے ہو

(34) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(34) تو تم اپنے پروردگار کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(35) The flames of fire and smoke will be sent on you two, then you will not be able to defend yourselves.

(35) تمہارے اوپر آگ کا سبز شعلہ اور دھواں چھوڑ دیا جائے گا تو تم دونوں کسی طرح نہیں روک سکتے ہو

(36) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(36) پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(37) And when the heaven is rent asunder, and then becomes red like red hide.

(37) پھر جب آسمان پھٹ کر تیل کی طرح سرخ ہوجائے گا

(38) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(38) تو تم اپنے پروردگار کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(39) So on that day neither man nor jinni shall be asked about his sin.

(39) پھر اس دن کسی انسان یا جن سے اس کے گناہ کے بارے میں سوال نہیں کیا جائے گا

(40) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(40) تو پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کو جھٹلاؤ گے

(41) The guilty shall be recognized by their marks, so they shall be seized by the forelocks and the feet.

(41) مجرم افراد تو اپنی نشانی ہی سے پہچان لئے جائیں گے پھر پیشانی اور پیروں سے پکڑ لئے جائیں گے

(42) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(42) تو تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(43) This is the hell which the guilty called a lie.

(43) یہی وہ جہنّم ہے جس کا مجرمین انکار کررہے تھے

(44) Round about shall they go between it and hot, boiling water.

(44) اب اس کے اور کھولتے ہوئے پانی کے درمیان چکر لگاتے پھریں گے

(45) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(45) پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(46) And for him who fears to stand before his Lord are two gardens.

(46) اور جو شخص بھی اپنے رب کی بارگاہ میں کھڑے ہونے سے ڈرتا ہے اس کے لئے دو دو باغات ہیں

(47) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(47) پھر تم اپنے پروردگار کی کس کس نعمت کو جھٹلاؤ گے

(48) Having in them various kinds.

(48) اور دونوں باغات درختوں کی ٹہنیوں سے ہرے بھرے میوؤں سے لدے ہوں گے

(49) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(49) پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کو جھٹلاؤ گے

(50) In both of them are two fountains flowing.

(50) ان دونوں میں دو چشمے بھی جاری ہوں گے

(51) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(51) پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(52) In both of them are two pairs of every fruit.

(52) ان دونوں میں ہر میوے کے جوڑے ہوں گے

(53) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(53) پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(54) Reclining on beds, the inner coverings of which are of silk brocade; and the fruits of the two gardens shall be within reach.

(54) یہ لوگ ان فرشوں پر تکیہ لگائے بیٹھے ہوں گے جن کے استر اطلس کے ہوں گے اور دونوں باغات کے میوے انتہائی قریب سے حاصل کرلیں گے

(55) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(55) پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(56) In them shall be those who restrained their eyes; before them neither man nor jinni shall have touched them.

(56) ان جنتوں میں محدود نگاہ والی حوریں ہوں گی جن کو انسان اور جنات میں سے کسی نے پہلے چھوا بھی نہ ہوگا

(57) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(57) پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(58) As though they were rubies and pearls.

(58) وہ حوریں اس طرح کی ہوں گی جیسے سرخ یاقوت اور مونگے

(59) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(59) پھر تم اپنے پروردگار کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(60) Is the reward of goodness aught but goodness?

(60) کیا احسان کا بدلہ احسان کے علاوہ کچھ اور بھی ہوسکتا ہے

(61) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(61) تو تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(62) And besides these two are two (other) gardens:

(62) اور ان دونوں کے علاوہ دو باغات اور ہوں گے

(63) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(63) پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(64) Both inclining to blackness.

(64) دونوں نہایت درجہ سرسبز و شاداب ہوں گے

(65) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(65) پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(66) In both of them are two springs gushing forth.

(66) ان دونوں باغات میں بھی دو جوش مارتے ہوئے چشمے ہوں گے

(67) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(67) پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(68) In both are fruits and palms and pomegranates.

(68) ان دونوں باغات میں میوے, کھجوریں اور انار ہوں گے

(69) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(69) پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(70) In them are goodly things, beautiful ones.

(70) ان جنتوں میں نیک سیرت اور خوب صورت عورتیں ہوں گی

(71) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(71) پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(72) Pure ones confined to the pavilions.

(72) وہ حوریں ہیں جو خیموں کے اندر چھپی بیٹھی ہوں گی

(73) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(73) تو تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(74) Man has not touched them before them nor jinni.

(74) انہیں ان سے پہلے کسی انسان یا جن نے ہاتھ تک نہ لگایا ہوگا

(75) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(75) پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(76) Reclining on green cushions and beautiful carpets.

(76) وہ لوگ سبز قالینوں اور بہترین مسندوں پر ٹیک لگائے بیٹھے ہوں گے

(77) Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

(77) پھر تم اپنے رب کی کس کس نعمت کا انکار کرو گے

(78) Blessed be the name of your Lord, the Lord of Glory and Honor!

(78) بڑا بابرکت ہے آپ کے پروردگار کا نام جو صاحب جلال بھی ہے اور صاحبِ اکرام بھی ہے
