سَتّائیس رجب
This day is one of the great feast days. On this day, the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) was appointed for conveying the Divine Mission when Archangel Gabriel first came to him with the Divine Revelation. Several rites are advisably practiced on this day. Some of them are as follows:
First: It is recommended to bathe oneself on this day.
Second: It is recommended to observe fasting. In fact, this day is one of the four days that are dedicated to fasting in the whole year. The reward of observing fasting on this day is equal to seventy year fasting.
Third: It is recommended to repeat very frequently the invocation of blessings upon Prophet Muhammad and his Household.
Fourth: It is recommended to visit the tombs of the Holy Prophet and Imam Ali, peace be upon them and their Household.
Fifth: In his book entitled Misbah al-Mutahajjid, Shaykh al-Tusi mentions that al-Rayyan ibn al-Salt is reported as saying that Imam Muhammad al-Jawad(a.s.) observed fasting on the fifteenth and the twenty-seventh of Rajab while he was in Baghdad. Following him, all of his followers observed fasting. He then ordered us to offer the prayer that consists of twelve units at each of which Surah al-Faatehah and another Surah should be recited. At the accomplishment of this prayer, it is recommended to recite Surahs al-Faatehah, al-Tawheed, al-Falaq, and al-Nas each four times. Then it is recommended to say the following litany four times:
لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ
There is no god save Allah.
اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں ہے
وَ اللّٰهُ اَكْبَرُ
Allah is the Most Great,
اور اللہ بزرگ تر ہے۔
وَ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ
all glory be to Allah,
خدا پاکیزہ ہے
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ
all praise be to Allah,
اور حمد خدا ہی کے لیے ہے
وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيْمِ۔
and there is neither might nor power save with Allah, the Most High, the All-great.
کوئی طاقت نہیں ہے مگر وہ بلند قوّت و بزرگ خدا سے ہے
Then, it is recommended to repeat the following four times:
اَللّٰهُ اَللّٰهُ رَبِّي لَا اُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا۔
Allah, Allah is my Lord. I associate none with Him.
وہ اللہ میرا رب ہے میں کسی چیز کو اس کا شریک نہیں بناتا۔
Then, it is recommended to say the following four times, too:
لَا اُشْرِكُ بِرَبِّي اَحَدًا۔
I never associate anyone with my Lord
میں کسی کو اپنے رب کا شریک نہیں گردانتا
Sixth: Shaykh al-Tusi has also reported Abu’l-Qasim Husayn ibn Ruh - may Allah have mercy upon him - as saying: On this day, you may offer a prayer consisting of twelve units at each of which you may recite Surah al-Faatehah and any other Surah. After each couple of units, you may say the following:
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِيْ لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا
All praise is due to Allah, Who has not taken a son
حمد اس خدا کے لیے ہے جس کا کوئی فرزند نہیں ہے
وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيْكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ
Who has not a partner in the kingdom,
اور جس کی بادشاہت میں کوئی اس کا شریک نہیں ہے
وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلِيٌّ مِنَ الذُّلِّ
and Who has not a helper to save Him from disgrace;
اور وہ اپنی قدرتِ کاملہ سے مخلوق کی نصرت سے بے نیاز ہے
وَ كَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيْرًا
and proclaim His greatness with thorough proclamation.
اور اس کو عظمت کے ساتھ یاد کرو
يَا عُدَّتِيْ فِي مُدَّتِيْ
O my Supporter throughout my lifetime!
اے میرے ذخیرہ میری عمر میں،
يَا صَاحِبِيْ فِي شِدَّتِيْ
O my Companion in hardships!
اے میرے دوست میری سختی میں،
يَا وَلِيِّيْ فِي نِعْمَتِيْ
O provider of me with all graces that I enjoy!
اے میرے ولی نعمت میں،
يَا غِيَاثِيْ فِي رَغْبَتِيْ
O my Succor in my desires!
اے میرے دادرس میری رغبت میں،
يَا نَجَاحِيْ فِي حَاجَتِيْ
O source of success of my needs!
اے میری کامیابی میری حاجت میں،
يَا حَافِظِيْ فِي غَيْبَتِيْ
O my guardian while I am absent!
اے میرے محافظ میری غیبت میں،
يَا كَافِيَّ فِي وَحْدَتِيْ
O He Who is sufficient for me when I am alone!
اے میری پناہ میری تنہائی میں،
يَا اُنْسِيْ فِي وَحْشَتِيْ
O my entertainment in my loneliness!
اے میرے مونس وحشت میں
اَنْتَ السَّاتِرُ عَوْرَتِيْ
You alone conceal my faults!
تو ہی میرے عیب کا چھپانے والا ہے
فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
So, all praise be to You.
لہٰذا تیرے لیے حمد ہے
وَ اَنْتَ الْمُقِيْلُ عَثْرَتِيْ
You alone overlook my slips.
اور تو میری لغزشوں سے درگذر کرنے والا ہے
فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
So, all praise be to You.
لہٰذا تیرے لیے حمد ہے
وَ اَنْتَ الْمُنْعِشُ صَرْعَتِيْ
You alone revive my deterioration.
اور تو میرے گرنے میں میرا دستگیر ہے
فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
So, all praise be to You.
لہٰذا تیرے لیے حمد ہے
صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
(Please do) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
درود نازل کر محمدؐ و آل محمدؐ پر
وَ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَتِي
and conceal my defects,
اور میرے عیب کو چھپادے
وَ اٰمِنْ رَوْعَتِي
secure my apprehensions,
اور خوف سے بچا دے
وَ اَقِلْنِيْ عَثْرَتِيْ
oversee my slips,
اور میری لغزش کو درگذر کردے،
وَ اصْفَحْ عَنْ جُرْمِيْ
pardon my offenses,
میرے جرم سے چشم پوشی کر
وَ تَجَاوَزْ عَنْ سَيِّئَاتِيْ
overlook my evildoings,
اور میری برائیوں سے درگذر کر
فِي اَصْحَابِ الْجَنَّةِ
and include me with the people of Paradise;
جنّت والوں میں
وَعْدَ الصِّدْقِ الَّذِيْ كَانُوْا يُوْعَدُوْنَ۔
the promise of truth which they were promised.
جن کا سچّا وعدہ ان لوگوں سے کیا گیا تھا۔
When you accomplish the prayer, you should recite Surahs al-Faatehah, al-Tawheed, al-Falaq, al-Nas, al-Kafirun, al-Qadr, and Ayah al-Kursi seven times. You should then repeat the following seven times:
لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ
There is no god save Allah;
اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں ہے
وَ اللّٰهُ اَكْبَرُ
Allah is the Most Great,
اور اللہ بزرگ تر ہے۔
وَ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ
glory be to Allah,
اور خدا پاک و پاکیزہ ہے
وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ۔
and there is neither might nor power save with Allah.
کوئی طاقت نہیں ہے مگر وہ بلند قوّت و بزرگ خدا سے ہے
You should then say the following seven times:
اَللّٰهُ اَللّٰهُ رَبِّي لَا اُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا۔
Allah, Allah is my Lord. I associate none with Him.
وہ اللہ میرا رب ہے میں کسی چیز کو اس کا شریک نہیں بناتا۔
After that, you may submit your needs.
Seventh: As is mentioned in Iqbal al-A’mal and some manuscripts of Misbah al-Mutahajjid, it is recommended to say the following supplicatory prayer on this day:
يَا مَنْ اَمَرَ بِالْعَفْوِ وَ التَّجَاوُزِ
O He Who has ordered us to forgive and overlook
اے وہ خدا جس نے معافی اور درگذر کرنے کا حکم دیا ہے
وَ ضَمَّنَ نَفْسَهُ الْعَفْوَ وَ التَّجَاوُزَ
and has taken upon Himself to forgive and overlook!
اور خود بھی معافی اور درگذر کا ضامن ہوا ہے
يَا مَنْ عَفَا وَ تَجَاوَزَ
O He Who did forgive and overlook!
اے وہ خدا جس نے معاف کیا اور درگذر کیا
اعْفُ عَنِّيْ وَ تَجَاوَزْ يَا كَرِيْمُ
(Please do) forgive me and overlook (my evildoings), O All-generous!
اب مجھ کو بھی معاف کردے اور درگذر کردے اے کرم والے،
اَللّٰهُمَّ وَ قَدْ اَكْدَى الطَّلَبُ
O Allah, surely all requests have been rejected,
خدایا میری طلب سختی ہوگئی ہے
وَ اَعْيَتِ الْحِيْلَةُ وَ الْمَذْهَبُ
all means and ways have been inaccessible,
اور تدبیرو راہ نے تھکا دیا ہے
وَ دَرَسَتِ الْاٰمَالُ
all hopes have been eradicated,
اور امیدیں نابود ہوگئی ہیں۔
وَ انْقَطَعَ الرَّجَاءُ اِلَّا مِنْكَ
all expectations have been cut off from everybody save You
اور تیرے علاوہ سب سے آرزوئیں منقطع ہوگئی ہیں۔
وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَكَ
alone. There is no partner with You.
تو اکیلا ہے۔ تیرا کوئی شریک نہیں ہے۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّي اَجِدُ سُبُلَ الْمَطَالِبِ اِلَيْكَ مُشْرَعَةً
O Allah, I find the ways to requesting from You wide open,
خدایا میں نے تمام مطالب کی راہ کو تیری طرف کھلا پایا
وَ مَنَاهِلَ الرَّجَاۤءِ لَدَيْكَ مُتْرَعَةً
the springs of hoping for You quenching,
اور امید کے سرچشموں کو پُر آب پایا
وَ اَبْوَابَ الدُّعَاۤءِ لِمَنْ دَعَاكَ مُفَتَّحَةً
the doors of supplication unlocked before one who implores You,
اور دعا کے دروازوں کو اس شخص کے لیے جو تجھ سے دعا کے، کھلا پایا
وَ الْاِسْتِعَانَةَ لِمَنِ اسْتَعَانَ بِكَ مُبَاحَةً
and Your aid available for those who seek it.
اور تیری مدد اس شخص کے لیے جو تجھ سے مدد طلب کرے حاضر پائی
وَ اَعْلَمُ اَنَّكَ لِدَاعِيْكَ بِمَوْضِعِ اِجَابَةٍ
I also know that You are in the position of response for one who beseeches You,
اور میں جانتا ہوں کہ تو ہر دعا کرنے والے کو مقامِ قبولیت سے گزارتا ہے
وَ لِلصَّارِخِ اِلَيْكَ بِمَرْصَدِ اِغَاثَةٍ
in the position of relief for one who resorts to You,
اور ہر فریاد کرنے والے کی فریاد رسی کو پہنچتا ہے۔
وَ اَنَّ فِي اللَّهْفِ اِلٰى جُوْدِكَ وَ الضَّمَانِ بِعِدَتِكَ
and hastening to Your magnanimity and reliance upon Your promise
اور تیرے جود کی طرف تضرّع و زاری میں
عِوَضًا مِنْ مَنْعِ الْبَاخِلِيْنَ۔
compensate from the stinginess of the misery ones
اور تیرے وعدہ کے التزام میں مکمل بدلہ ہے۔
وَ مَنْدُوْحَةً عَمَّا فِيْ اَيْدِي الْمُسْتَاْثِرِيْنَ
and suffice from that which is grasped by the mean ones.
بخیلوں کے منع کرنے کا اور بے نیازی ہے مالداروں کی ثروت سے
وَ اَنَّكَ لَا تَحْتَجِبُ عَنْ خَلْقِكَ
[I know for sure] that You never screen Yourself against Your beings,
اور بے شک تو اپنے مخلوق سے پوشیدہ نہیں ہے
اِلَّا اَنْ تَحْجُبَهُمُ الْاَعْمَالُ دُوْنَكَ
but it is their evildoings that prevent them from journeying toward You.
مگر یہ کہ ان کے اعمال ان کے لیے حجاب بن جائیں
وَ قَدْ عَلِمْتُ اَنَّ اَفْضَلَ زَادِ الرَّاحِلِ اِلَيْكَ
I have also known for sure that the best provisions of one who intends to travel to You
اور میں نے یہ کچھ لیا ہے کہ بہترین توشہ تیری طرف سفر کرنے والے
عَزْمُ اِرَادَةٍ يَخْتَارُكَ بِهَا
is a true willpower by which one chooses You from amongst Others.
کے لیے وہ عزم محکم ہے
وَ قَدْ نَاجَاكَ بِعَزْمِ الْاِرَادَةِ قَلْبِيْ
Hence, my heart has called at You with full willpower,
جس کے ذریعہ تجھ کو اختیار کرتا ہے اور تجھ سے مناجات کی ہے میرے دل نے
وَ اَسْاَلُكَ بِكُلِّ دَعْوَةٍ دَعَاكَ بِهَا رَاجٍ بَلَّغْتَهُ اَمَلَهُ
and I pray You in the name of all supplications said by a hopeful and thus You have achieved his hope,
مستحکم ارادہ کے ساتھ اور میں سوال کرتا ہوں تجھ سے ہر اس دعا کے ذریعہ
اَوْ صَارِخٌ اِلَيْكَ اَغَثْتَ صَرْخَتَهُ
said by a seeker of aid and thus You have admitted his request,
جس سے تجھ کو پُکارا ہے امید کرنے والوں نے اور تو نے ان کو ان کی امید تک پہنچادیا ہے کہ
اَوْ مَلْهُوْفٌ مَكْرُوْبٌ فَرَّجْتَ كَرْبَهُ
said by an aggrieved, depressed one and thus You have relieved him,
تیری طرف فریاد کرنے والے نے اور تو نے اس کی فریاد کو سنا ہے یا ہر دردمند غم زدہ نے اور تو نے اس کی پریشانی کو دور کیا ہے
اَوْ مُذْنِبٌ خَاطِئٌ غَفَرْتَ لَهُ
said by a guilty sinner and thus You have forgiven him,
یا خطا کار گناہ گار نے اور تو نے اس کو بخش دیا ہے
اَوْ مُعَافًى اَتْمَمْتَ نِعْمَتَكَ عَلَيْهِ
said by a healthy one and thus You have perfected Your favors on him,
یا کسی صاحبِ عافیت نے دعا کی ہے تو اس پر نعمتیں تمام کردی ہیں
اَوْ فَقِيْرٌ اَهْدَيْتَ غِنَاكَ اِلَيْهِ
or said by a poor one and thus You have conferred upon him with Your wealth;
یا کسی فقیر نے دعا کی تو اپنی دولت کا رُخ اس کی طرف موڑدیا ہے
وَ لِتِلْكَ الدَّعْوَةِ عَلَيْكَ حَقٌّ وَ عِنْدَكَ مَنْزِلَةٌ
so, these supplications occupy a considerable position with You and enjoy a standing with You,
اور ہر وہ دعوت جس کا تجھ پر کوئی حق ہو یا تیری نگاہ میں اس کی کوئی منزلت ہو۔
اِلَّا صَلَّيْتَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
I pray You to send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
میری دعا ہے کہ محمدؐ و آل محمدؐ پر رحمت نازل فرما
وَ قَضَيْتَ حَوَآئِجِيْ حَوَآئِجَ الدُّنْيَا وَ الْاٰخِرَةِ
and grant all my requests for this world and the Next World.
اور میری دنیا و آخرت کی حاجتوں کو پورا فرما۔
وَ هَذَا رَجَبٌ الْمُرَجَّبُ الْمُكَرَّمُ
This is Rajah, the honored and dignified month,
خدایا یہ رجب باعظمت و کرامت ہے۔
الَّذِيْ اَكْرَمْتَنَا بِهِ اَوَّلُ اَشْهُرِ الْحُرُمِ
which You have honored us through it, being the first of the Sacred Months,
اس سے تو نے ہمیں کرامت عنایت فرمائی۔
اَكْرَمْتَنَا بِهِ مِنْ بَيْنِ الْاُمَمِ
and You have selected us for this honor among the other nations.
یہ پہلا محترم مہینہ ہے جو تو نے تمام امّتوں کے درمیان ہم کو عنایت کیا ہے۔
يَا ذَا الْجُوْدِ وَ الْكَرَمِ
O Lord of Magnanimity and Generosity!
اے صاحبِ جود و کرم
فَنَسْاَلُكَ بِهِ وَ بِاسْمِكَ الْاَعْظَمِ الْاَعْظَمِ الْاَعْظَمِ
I thus beseech You by Your Name, the grandest, the grandest, the grandest,
ہم تجھ سے دعا کررہے ہیں اسی مہینہ اور تیرے عظیم ترین،
الْاَجَلِّ الْاَكْرَمِ
the most majestic, the most honorable,
جلی ترین، کریم ترین اور بزرگ ترین نام کے واسطہ سے
الَّذِيْ خَلَقْتَهُ فَاسْتَقَرَّ فِي ظِلِّكَ
that You have created so that it has settled under Your Shadow
وہ نام جس کو تو نے خلق کیا ہے تو اس نے تیرے سایۂ رحمت میں جگہ پائی ہے
فَلَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْكَ اِلٰى غَيْرِكَ
and it thus shall never transfer to anyone other than You,
اور پھر نکل کر کسی غیر تک نہیں گیا ہے۔
اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ
to send blessings to Muhammad and his Household the immaculate
تو محمدؐ و آل محمدؐ پر رحمت نازل فرما
وَ تَجْعَلَنَا مِنَ الْعَامِلِيْنَ فِيْهِ بِطَاعَتِكَ
and to include us, during this month, with those who practice acts of obedience to You
اور ہمیں اس مہینہ میں اپنی اطاعت پر عمل کرنے والوں
وَ الْاٰمِلِيْنَ فِيْهِ بِشَفَاعَتِكَ۔
and those who hope for Your admission.
اور شفاعت کے امیدواروں میں قرار دے دے۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ وَ اهْدِنَا اِلٰى سَوَاءِ السَّبِيْلِ
O Allah, (please do) lead us to the Right Path,
خدایا ہمیں سیدھے راستہ کی ہدایت فرما
وَ اجْعَلْ مَقِيْلَنَا عِنْدَكَ خَيْرَ مَقِيْلٍ فِي ظِلٍّ ظَلِيْلٍ
choose for us the best resting-place with You, under a dense shade
اور ہماری منزل کو بہترین منزل قرار دے دے۔ جو تیرے سایۂ رحمت میں ہو۔
فَاِنَّكَ حَسْبُنَا وَ نِعْمَ الْوَكِيْلُ
and abundant possession. Surely, You are Sufficient for us! Most Excellent are You, and in You do we trust!
تو ہی ہمارے لیے کافی ہے اور تو ہی بہترین نگہبان ہے۔
وَ السَّلَامُ عَلٰى عِبَادِهِ الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ
Peace be upon His servants, the chosen,
سلام ہو اللہ کے مصطفےٰ بندوں پر
وَ صَلَوَاتُهُ عَلَيْهِمْ اَجْمَعِيْنَ
and His blessings be upon them all.
اور اس کی صلوات ہو ان سب پر۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ وَ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي يَوْمِنَا هٰذَا الَّذِيْ فَضَّلْتَهُ
O Allah, (please do) bless us on this day that You have honored,
خدایا ہمیں آج کے دن کی برکت عنایت فرما جس کو تو نے فضیلت دی ہے
وَ بِكَرَامَتِكَ جَلَّلْتَهُ
covered with Your nobility,
اور اپنی کرامت سے جلیل بنایا ہے
وَ بِالْمَنْزِلِ الْاَعْلٰى اَنْزَلْتَهُ
and implanted in the great and highest Dwelling.
اور اپنی بارگاہ میں عظیم ترین منزل پر قرار دیا ہے۔
صَلِّ عَلٰى مَنْ فِيْهِ اِلٰى عِبَادِكَ اَرْسَلْتَهُ
(Please do) send blessings to him whom You sent (as Your Messenger) to Your servants
صلوات نازل فرما اس بندہ پر جس کو آج کے دن اپنے بندوں کے درمیان بھیجا ہے
وَ بِالْمَحَلِّ الْكَرِيْمِ اَحْلَلْتَهُ
and whom You accommodated in the Noble Place.
اور منزلِ کرامت میں جگہ عنایت فرمائی ہے۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ صَلَاةً دَاۤئِمَةً تَكُوْنُ لَكَ شُكْرًا
O Allah, send upon him blessing that is never-ending, being in the form of thanks to You
خدایا ان پر دائمی صلوات نازل فرما جو تیرے لیے شکر بنے
وَ لَنَا ذُخْرًا
and reward to us.
اور ہمارے لیے ذخیرہ بنے۔
وَ اجْعَلْ لَنَا مِنْ اَمْرِنَا يُسْرًا
And make easy for us all our affairs
ہمارے امر میں آسانی قرار دے
وَ اخْتِمْ لَنَا بِالسَّعَادَةِ اِلٰى مُنْتَهَىٰ اٰجَالِنَا
and make our end result, up to the last of our lives, pleasant
اور وقتِ موت ہمارا خاتمہ نیک بختی پر فرما۔
وَ قَدْ قَبِلْتَ الْيَسِيْرَ مِنْ اَعْمَالِنَا
after You accept our little deed
جب کہ تو نے ہمارے معمولی اعمال کو قبول کرلیا ہو
وَ بَلَّغْتَنَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ اَفْضَلَ اٰمَالِنَا
and achieve for us all our hopes out of Your mercy.
اور اپنی رحمت سے آرزوؤں کی بلند ترین منزل تک پہنچا دیا ہو۔
اِنَّكَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ
Verily, You have power over all things.
تو ہر شئے پر قادر ہے
وَ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِهِ وَ سَلَّمَ۔
May Allah bless and exalt Muhammad and his Household.
اور صلوات و سلام ہو تیرا محمدؐ و آل محمدؐ پر۔
It is worth mentioning that this supplicatory prayer, which is one of the excellent supplications of Rajab, was said by Imam Musa ibn Ja’far al-Kazim (a.s.) on the day when the ruling authorities took him to Baghdad. That day was the twenty-seventh of Rajab.
Eighth: As is mentioned in Iqbal al-A’mal, it is recommended to say the following supplicatory prayer on this day:
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَسْاَلُكَ بِالتَّجَلِّى الْاَعْظَمُ۔
O Allah, I beseech You in the name of the Grandest Manifestation...
خدایا میں تجھ سے سوال کرتا ہوں بزرگ ترین تجلّی کے واسطہ سے
This supplicatory prayer has been previously mentioned, yet according to the narration of al-Kaf’ami, within the rites of the twenty-seventh night of Rajab.
THE LAST DAY OF THE RAJAB
Narrations have mentioned that it is recommended to bathe oneself on this day and to observe fasting on it, which achieves the forgiveness of all sins, both the past and the future. It is also recommended to offer Salat Salman previously mentioned within the rites of the first of Rajab.
