۴۴ : سورة الدخان
SURAH AD-DUKHAN (THE SMOKE)
This is a ‘Makki’ surah and it has 59 verses. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (S) that if this surah is recited at night, then seventy thousand angels pray to Allah (s.w.t) to forgive the sins of the reciter. If recited on Thursday nights, all sins are forgiven and houses are built for the reciter in Paradise. The reward for reciting each letter of this surah is equal to that of freeing a thousand slaves for seeking the pleasure of Allah (s.w.t).
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s.) said that whoever recites surah ad-Dukhan in his obligatory prayers will be protected from the torment of the Day of Judgement and will easily be able to give his accounts. His book of deeds will also be given to him in his right hand.
If kept in one’s possession, this surah acts as a protection from the plots of Shaitan. If kept under one’s pillow before sleeping at night, there will be no suffering from nightmares and one will always get good dreams. Keeping this surah in a place of business makes the trade prosper.
Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said that keeping this surah as a taweez ensures protection from the authorities and makes people fond of the wearer. Drinking water in which this surah has been dissolved is a cure for all ailments related to the stomach.
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
حٰمٓ ۛۚ(1)
(1) Ha Mim!
(1) حمۤ
وَالْكِتٰبِ الْمُبِيْنِ ۛۙ(2)
(2) I swear by the Book that makes manifest (the truth).
(2) روشن کتاب کی قسم
اِنَّاۤ اَنْزَلْنٰهُ فِىْ لَيْلَةٍ مُّبٰرَكَةٍ اِنَّا كُنَّا مُنْذِرِيْنَ(3)
(3) Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning--
(3) ہم نے اس قرآن کو ایک مبارک رات میں نازل کیا ہے ہم بیشک عذاب سے ڈرانے والے تھے
فِيْهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ اَمْرٍ حَكِيْمٍۙ(4)
(4) Therein every wise affair is made distinct,
(4) اس رات میں تمام حکمت و مصلحت کے امور کا فیصلہ کیا جاتا ہے
اَمْرًا مِّنْ عِنْدِنَاؕ اِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِيْنَۚ(5)
(5) A command from Us; surely We are the senders (of apostles),
(5) یہ ہماری طرف کا حکم ہوتا ہے اور ہم ہی رسولوں کے بھیجنے والے ہیں
رَحْمَةً مِّنْ رَّبِّكَؕ اِنَّهٗ هُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْمُۙ(6)
(6) A mercy from your Lord, surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing,
(6) یہ آپ کے پروردگار کی رحمت ہے اور یقینا وہ بہت سننے والا اور جاننے والا ہے
رَبِّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَاۘ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُّوْقِنِيْنَ(7)
(7) The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure.
(7) وہ آسمان و زمین اور اس کے مابین کا پروردگار ہے اگر تم یقین کرنے والے ہو
لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ يُحْىٖ وَيُمِيْتُؕ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ اٰبَآئِكُمُ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ(8)
(8) There is no god but He; He gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of yore.
(8) اس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے . وہی حیات عطا کرنے والا ہے اور وہی موت دینے والا ہے - وہی تمہارا بھی پروردگار ہے اور تمہارے گزشتہ بزرگوں کا بھی پروردگار ہے
بَلْ هُمْ فِىْ شَكٍّ يَّلْعَبُوْنَ(9)
(9) Nay, they are in doubt, they sport.
(9) لیکن یہ لوگ شک کے عالم میں کھیل تماشہ کررہے ہیں
فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَاْتِى السَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِيْنٍۙ(10)
(10) Therefore keep waiting for the day when the heaven shall bring an evident smoke,
(10) لہٰذا آپ اس دن کا انتظار کیجئے جب آسمان واضح قسم کا دھواں لے کر آجائے گا
يَغْشَى النَّاسَؕ هٰذَا عَذَابٌ اَلِيْمٌ(11)
(11) That shall overtake men; this is a painful punishment.
(11) جو تمام لوگوں کو ڈھانک لے گا کہ یہی دردناک عذاب ہے
رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ اِنَّا مُؤْمِنُوْنَ(12)
(12) Our Lord! remove from us the punishment; surely we are believers.
(12) تب سب کہیں گے کہ پروردگار اس عذاب کو ہم سے دور کردے ہم ایمان لے آنے والے ہیں
اَنّٰى لَهُمُ الذِّكْرٰى وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُوْلٌ مُّبِيْنٌۙ(13)
(13) How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Apostle making clear (the truth),
(13) بھلا ان کی قسمت میں نصیحت کہاں جب کہ ان کے پاس واضح پیغام والا رسول بھی آچکا ہے
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوْا مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُوْنٌۘ(14)
(14) Yet they turned their backs on him and said: One taught (by others), a madman.
(14) اور انہوں نے اس سے منہ پھیرلیا اور کہا کہ یہ سکھایا پڑھایا ہوا دیوانہ ہے
اِنَّا كَاشِفُوا الْعَذَابِ قَلِيْلًا اِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُوْنَۘ(15)
(15) Surely We will remove the punishment a little, (but) you will surely return (to evil).
(15) خیر ہم تھوڑی دیر کے لئے عذاب کو ہٹالیتے ہیں لیکن تم پھر وہی کرنے والے ہو جو کررہے ہو
يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرٰىۚ اِنَّا مُنْتَقِمُوْنَ(16)
(16) On the day when We will seize (them) with the most violent seizing; surely We will inflict retribution.
(16) ایک دن آئے گا جب ہم سخت قسم کی گرفت کریں گے کہ ہم یقینا بدلہ لینے والے بھی ہیں
وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُوْلٌ كَرِيْمٌۙ(17)
(17) And certainly We tried before them the people of Firon, and there came to them a noble apostle,
(17) اور ہم نے ان سے پہلے فرعون کی قوم کو آزمایا جب ان کے پاس ایک محترم پیغمبر آیا
اَنْ اَدُّوْۤا اِلَىَّ عِبَادَ اللّٰهِؕ اِنِّىْ لَكُمْ رَسُوْلٌ اَمِيْنٌۙ(18)
(18) Saying: Deliver to me the servants of Allah, surely I am a faithful apostle to you,
(18) کہ اللہ کے بندوں کو میرے حوالے کردو میں تمہارے لئے ایک امانت دار پیغمبر ہوں
وَّاَنْ لَّا تَعْلُوْا عَلَى اللّٰهِۚ اِنِّىْۤ اٰتِيْكُمْ بِسُلْطٰنٍ مُّبِيْنٍۚ(19)
(19) And that do not exalt yourselves against Allah, surely I will bring to you a clear authority:
(19) اور خدا کے سامنے اونچے نہ بنو میں تمہارے پاس بہت واضح دلیل لے کر آیا ہوں
وَاِنِّىْ عُذْتُ بِرَبِّىْ وَرَبِّكُمْ اَنْ تَرْجُمُوْنِ ۚ(20)
(20) And surely I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord that you should stone me to death:
(20) اور میں اپنے اور تمہارے رب کی پناہ چاہتا ہوں کہ تم مجھے سنگسار کردو
وَاِنْ لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوْا لِىْ فَاعْتَزِلُوْنِ(21)
(21) And if you do not believe in me, then leave me alone.
(21) اور اگر تم ایمان نہیں لاتے ہو تو مجھ سے الگ ہوجاؤ
فَدَعَا رَبَّهٗۤ اَنَّ هٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُوْنَ(22)
(22) Then he called upon his Lord: These are a guilty people.
(22) پھر انہوں نے اپنے رب سے دُعا کی کہ یہ قوم بڑی مجرم قوم ہے
فَاَسْرِ بِعِبَادِىْ لَيْلًا اِنَّكُمْ مُّتَّبَعُوْنَۙ(23)
(23) So go forth with My servants by night; surely you will be pursued:
(23) تو ہم نے کہا کہ ہمارے بندوں کو لے کر راتوں رات چلے جاؤ کہ تمہارا پیچھا کیا جانے والا ہے
وَاتْرُكِ الْبَحْرَ رَهْوًاؕ اِنَّهُمْ جُنْدٌ مُّغْرَقُوْنَ(24)
(24) And leave the sea intervening; surely they are a host that shall be drowned.
(24) اور دریا کو اپنے حال پر ساکن چھوڑ کر نکل جاؤ کہ یہ لشکر غرق کیا جانے والا ہے
كَمْ تَرَكُوْا مِنْ جَنّٰتٍ وَّعُيُوْنٍۙ(25)
(25) How many of the gardens and fountains have they left!
(25) یہ لوگ کتنے ہی باغات اور چشمے چھوڑ گئے
وَّزُرُوْعٍ وَّمَقَامٍ كَرِيْمٍۙ(26)
(26) And cornfields and noble places!
(26) اور کتنی ہی کھیتیاں اور عمدہ مکانات چھوڑ گئے
وَّنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوْا فِيْهَا فٰكِهِيْنَۙ(27)
(27) And goodly things wherein they rejoiced;
(27) اور وہ نعمتیں جن میں مزے اُڑا رہے تھےیہی انجام ہوتا ہے اور ہم نے سب کا وارث دوسری قوم کو بنادیا
كَذٰلِكَ وَاَوْرَثْنٰهَا قَوْمًا اٰخَرِيْنَ(28)
(28) Thus (it was), and We gave them as a heritage to another people.
(28) اور وہ نعمتیں جن میں مزے اُڑا رہے تھےیہی انجام ہوتا ہے اور ہم نے سب کا وارث دوسری قوم کو بنادیا
فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَآءُ وَالْاَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوْا مُنْظَرِيْنَ(29)
(29) So the heaven and the earth did not weep for them, nor were they respited.
(29) پھر تو ان پر نہ آسمان رویا اور نہ زمین اور نہ انہیں مہلت ہی دی گئی
وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِىْۤ اِسْرَآءِيْلَ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِيْنِۙ(30)
(30) And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement,
(30) اور ہم نے بنی اسرائیل کو رسوا کن عذاب سے بچالیا
مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَؕ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِّنَ الْمُسْرِفِيْنَ(31)
(31) From Firon; surely he was haughty, (and) one of the extravagant.
(31) فرعون کے شر سے جو زیادتی کرنے والوں میں بھی سب سے اونچا تھا
وَلَقَدِ اخْتَرْنٰهُمْ عَلٰى عِلْمٍ عَلَى الْعٰلَمِيْنَۚ(32)
(32) And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations.
(32) اور ہم نے بنی اسرائیل کو تمام عالمین میں سمجھ بوجھ کر انتخاب کیا ہے
وَاٰتَيْنٰهُمْ مِّنَ الْاٰيٰتِ مَا فِيْهِ بَلٰٓؤٌا مُّبِيْنٌ(33)
(33) And We gave them of the communications wherein was clear blessing.
(33) اور انہیں ایسی نشانیاں دی ہیں جن میں کھلا ہوا امتحان پایا جاتا ہے
اِنَّ هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ لَيَقُوْلُوْنَۙ(34)
(34) Most surely these do say:
(34) بیشک یہ لوگ یہی کہتے ہیں
اِنْ هِىَ اِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا الْاُوْلٰى وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنْشَرِيْنَ(35)
(35) There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again.
(35) کہ یہ صرف پہلی موت ہے اور بس اس کے بعد ہم اٹھائے جانے والے نہیں ہیں
فَاْتُوْا بِاٰبَآئِنَاۤ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ(36)
(36) So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful.
(36) اور اگر تم سچے ہو تو ہمارے باپ دادا کو قبروں سے اٹھا کر لے آؤ
اَهُمْ خَيْرٌ اَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍۙ وَّ الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْؕ اَهْلَكْنٰهُمْ اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا مُجْرِمِيْنَ(37)
(37) Are they better or the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty.
(37) بھلا یہ لوگ زیادہ بہتر ہیں یا قوم تّبع اور ان سے پہلے والے افراد جنہیں ہم نے اس لئے تباہ کردیا کہ یہ سب مجرم تھے
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لٰعِبِيْنَ(38)
(38) And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in sport.
(38) اور ہم نے زمین و آسمان اور اس کی درمیانی مخلوقات کو کھیل تماشہ کرنے کے لئے نہیں پیدا کیا ہے
مَا خَلَقْنٰهُمَاۤ اِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ(39)
(39) We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know.
(39) ہم نے انہیں صرف حق کے ساتھ پیدا کیا ہے لیکن ان کی اکثریت اس امر سے بھی جاہل ہے
اِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ مِيْقَاتُهُمْ اَجْمَعِيْنَۙ(40)
(40) Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them
(40) بیشک فیصلہ کا دن ان سب کے اٹھائے جانے کا مقررہ وقت ہے
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِىْ مَوْلًى عَنْ مَّوْلًى شَيْئًا وَّلَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُوْنَۙ(41)
(41) The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped,
(41) جس دن کوئی دوست دوسرے دوست کے کام آنے والا نہیں ہے اور نہ ان کی کوئی مدد کی جائے گی
اِلَّا مَنْ رَّحِمَ اللّٰهُؕ اِنَّهٗ هُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الرَّحِيْمُ(42)
(42) Save those on whom Allah shall have mercy; surely He is the Mighty the Merciful.
(42) علاوہ اس کے جس پر خدا رحم کرے کہ بیشک وہ بڑا بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے
اِنَّ شَجَرَتَ الزَّقُّوْمِۙ(43)
(43) Surely the tree of the Zaqqum,
(43) بیشک آخرت میں ایک تھوہڑ کا درخت ہے
طَعَامُ الْاَثِيْمِ ۛۚ ۖ(44)
(44) Is the food of the sinful
(44) جو گناہگاروں کی غذا ہے
كَالْمُهْلِ ۛۚ يَغْلِىْ فِى الْبُطُوْنِۙ(45)
(45) Like dregs of oil; it shall boil in (their) bellies,
(45) وہ پگھلے ہوئے تانبے کی مانند پیٹ میں جوش کھائے گا
كَغَلْىِ الْحَمِيْمِ(46)
(46) Like the boiling of hot water.
(46) جیسے گرم پانی جوش کھاتا ہے
خُذُوْهُ فَاعْتِلُوْهُ اِلٰى سَوَآءِ الْجَحِيْمِ ۖ(47)
(47) Seize him, then drag him down into the middle of the hell;
(47) فرشتوں کو حکم ہوگا کہ اسے پکڑو اور بیچوں بیچ جہّنم تک لے جاؤ
ثُمَّ صُبُّوْا فَوْقَ رَاْسِهٖ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْحَمِيْمِؕ(48)
(48) Then pour above his head of the torment of the boiling water:
(48) پھر اس کے سر پر کھولتے ہوئے پانی کا عذاب انڈیل دو
ذُقْ ۖۚ اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْكَرِيْمُ(49)
(49) Taste; you forsooth are the mighty, the honorable:
(49) کہو کہ اب اپنے کئے کا مزہ چکھو کہ تم تو بڑے صاحب عزّت اور محترم کہے جاتے تھے
اِنَّ هٰذَا مَا كُنْتُمْ بِهٖ تَمْتَرُوْنَ(50)
(50) Surely this is what you disputed about.
(50) یہی وہ عذاب ہے جس میں تم شک پیدا کررہے تھے
اِنَّ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ فِىْ مَقَامٍ اَمِيْنٍۙ(51)
(51) Surely those who guard (against evil) are in a secure place,
(51) بیشک وہ صاحبانِ تقویٰ محفوظ مقام پر ہوں گے
فِىْ جَنّٰتٍ وَّعُيُوْنٍ ۙ ۚ(52)
(52) In gardens and springs;
(52) باغات اور چشموں کے درمیان
يَّلْبَسُوْنَ مِنْ سُنْدُسٍ وَّاِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَقٰبِلِيْنَۚ ۙ(53)
(53) They shall wear of fine and thick silk, (sitting) face to face;
(53) وہ ریشم کی باریک اور موٹی پوشاک پہنے ہوئے ایک دوسرے کے سامنے بیٹھے ہوں گے
كَذٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنٰهُمْ بِحُوْرٍ عِيْنٍؕ(54)
(54) Thus (shall it be), and We will wed them with Houris pure, beautiful ones.
(54) ایسا ہی ہوگا اور ہم بڑی بڑی آنکھوں والی حوروں سے ان کے جوڑے لگادیں گے
يَدْعُوْنَ فِيْهَا بِكُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ اٰمِنِيْنَۙ(55)
(55) They shall call therein for every fruit in security;
(55) وہ وہاں ہر قسم کے میوے سکون کے ساتھ طلب کریں گے
لَا يَذُوْقُوْنَ فِيْهَا الْمَوْتَ اِلَّا الْمَوْتَةَ الْاُوْلٰى ۚ وَوَقٰٮهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيْمِۙ(56)
(56) They shall not taste therein deathexcept the first death, and He will save them from the punishment of the hell,
(56) اور وہاں پہلی موت کے علاوہ کسی موت کا مزہ نہیں چکھنا ہوگا اور خدا انہیں جہّنم کے عذاب سے محفوظ رکھے گا
فَضْلًا مِّنْ رَّبِّكَ ؕ ذٰ لِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيْمُ(57)
(57) A grace from your Lord; this is the great achievement.
(57) یہ سب آپ کے پروردگار کا فضل و کرم ہے اور یہی انسان کے لئے سب سے بڑی کامیابی ہے
فَاِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُوْنَ(58)
(58) So have We made it easy in your tongue that they may be mindful.
(58) پس ہم نے اس قرآن کو آپ کی زبان سے آسان کردیا ہے کہ شاید یہ لوگ نصیحت حاصل کرلیں
فَارْتَقِبْ اِنَّهُمْ مُّرْتَقِبُوْنَ(59)
(59) Therefore wait; surely they are waiting.
(59) پھر آپ انتظار کریں اور یہ لوگ بھی انتظار کر ہی رہے ہیں
