روز عاشورا امام حسین (ع) کی دعا
This is the supplicatory prayer the Holy Prophet (s) said on the days of the Battle of Badr and the Battle of the Allies (i.e. al-Ahzab). The chief of martyrs; namely, Imam al-Husayn (‘a), also said this supplicatory prayer in Karbala’ on the ‘Ashura’ Day.
Furthermore, two more supplicatory prayers were said by Imam al-Husayn (‘a) on that day. The first one is the supplicatory prayer he taught to his son Imam Zayn al-’Abidin (‘a) when he embraced him to his chest while blood was gushing from his body. Used in urgent cases, intense grief, harsh times, and difficult matters, the supplicatory prayer intended is as follows:
بِحَقِّ يٰسٓ وَالْقُرْاٰنِ الْحَكِيْمِ
In the name of Yasln and the Qur'an full of wisdom
یس اور قرآن حکیم کے حق کا واسطہ ،
وَ بِحَقِّ طٰهٰ وَ الْقُرْاٰنِ الْعَظِيْمِ
and in the name of Taha and the Great Qur'an (I beseech You).
طٰہٰ اور قرآن حکیم کا واسطہ ۔
يَا مَنْ يَقْدِرُ عَلٰى حَوَاۤئِجِ السَّاۤئِلِيْنَ
O He Who has power to grant the requests of the beseechers!
اے وہ پروردگار جو سائکلوں کی حاجت روائی پر قادر ہے۔
يَا مَنْ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى الضَّمِيْرِ
O He Who knows what is in the inner selves!
لوگوں کے دلوں کا حال جانتا ہے۔
يَا مُنَفِّسًا عَنِ الْمَكْرُوْبِيْنَ
O He Who alleviates the agonized ones!
رنج وغم کا دور کرنے والا،
يَا مُفَرِّجًا عَنِ الْمَغْمُوْمِيْنَ
O He Who relieves the distressed ones!
ہم وغم سے نجات دینے والا ،
يَا رَاحِمَ الشَّيْخِ الْكَبِيْرِ
O He Who is merciful to the old ones!
بوڑھے پر رحم کرنے والا
يَا رَازِقَ الطِّفْلِ الصَّغِيْرِ
O He Who provides the little babies with sustenance!
بچہ کو روزی دینے والا
يَا مَنْ لَايَحْتَاجُ اِلَى التَّفْسِيْرِ
O He Who does not require explanation!
جو کسی تفسیر کا محتاج نہیں ہے
صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَافْعَلْ بِىْ كَذَا و كَذَا
(Please) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad and...
محمدؐ و آل محمدؐ پر رحمت نازل فرما اور میری مشکل کو آسان کر دے۔
One may now submit his requests.
Fifth: Imam al-Sadiq (‘a) is reported to have raised his hands towards the sky and said this supplicatory prayer:
رَبِّ لَاتَكِلْنِىْۤ اِلٰى نَفْسِىْ طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ اَبَدًا
O my Lord, never relegate me to myself even for a winking of an eye,
پالنے والے مجھے کبھی پلک جھپکنے کے وقت کے برابر بھی میرے نفس کے حوالے نہ کرنا
لَا اَقَلَّ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ وَلَا اَكْثَرَ
less than that, or more than that.
نہ ہی اس سے کم یا زیادہ وقت کے لیے۔
Sixth: Imam al-Sadiq (‘a) is also reported to have advised of saying this supplicatory prayer:
اِرْحَمْنِىْ مِمَّا لَاطَاقَةَ لِىْ بِهِ وَلَاصَبْرَ لِىْ عَلَيْهِ
(Please) have mercy upon me against what I am too feeble to do and what I am too impatient to stand.
رحم کر مجھ پر ان تکلیفوں میں جن کے لیے مجھ میں طا قت ہے نہ صبر کا یارا ۔
Seventh: Imam al-Sadiq (‘a) is also reported to have advised of saying this supplicatory prayer:
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنّىْۤ اَسْئَلُكَ بِجَلَالِكَ وَ جَمَالِكَ وَ كَرَمِكَ اَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِىْ كَذَا وَ كَذَا
Allah, I beseech You in the name of Your majesty, beauty, and generosity to...
اے معبود! میں تجھ سے سوال کرتا ہوں تیرے دبدے تیرے جمال اورتیری عطا کا واسطہ دے کر کہ میری یہ ا ور یہ حاجات پوری فرما۔
One may now submit his requests.
Eighth: Fazl ibn Yunus has reported that Imam al-Kazim (‘a) advised him to repeat this supplicatory prayer very much:
اَللّٰهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْنِىْ مِنَ الْمُعَارِيْنَ
O Allah, (please) do not make me of the unfixed-hearted
اے معبود! مجھے ان لوگوں میں نہ رکھ جن کا ایمان کچّا ہے
وَ لَا تُخْرِجْنِىْ مِنَ التَّقْصِيْرِ
and do not make me feel not negligent.
اور مجھے کوتاہی کرنے والوں میں سے شمار نہ کر۔
To explain, the first statement is a prayer for not including with those whose faith is as irregular as loans, which means that faith is not fixed in their hearts. However, the statement may also stand for a prayer for not including with those whom are relegated to themselves and Allah the Almighty has no interference in their affairs, just like a horse whose rein is thrown freely on its wither and is left to graze uncontrollably.
The second statement is a prayer for not including with those who feel themselves to have carried out their duties towards their Lord flawlessly. In fact, one must always feel that he cannot carry out his duties towards his Lord fully whatever efforts he would exert.
Ninth: Imam al-Baqir (‘a) is reported to have said: Almighty Allah has forgiven a Bedouin man for two words he said in his supplicatory prayer. These two words are as follows:
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنْ تُعَذِّبْنِىْ فَاَهْلٌ لِذٰلِكَ اَنَا
O Allah, if You punish me, then this befits me,
اے معبود! اگر تو مجھے عذاب دے تو میں اسی لائق ہوں
وَ اِنْ تَغْفِرْلِىْ فَاَهْلٌ لِذٰلِكَ اَنْتَ۔
but if You forgive me, then it befits You.
اگر تو مجھے بخش دے تو یہ تیرے شایانِ شان ہے۔
Tenth: Dawud al-Raqqi has said: Whenever he insisted in prayers, Imam al-Sadiq (‘a) would pray Almighty Allah in the name of the Five Persons: the Holy Prophet, Imam ‘Ali, Lady Fatimah, Imam al-Hasan, and Imam al-Husayn, peace be upon them.
Eleventh: Yazid al-Sa’igh is reported to have said: I asked Imam al-Sadiq (‘a) to pray Almighty Allah for our good. He therefore said:
اَللّٰهُمَّ ارْزُقْهُمْ صِدْقً الْحَدِيْثِ
O Allah, (please) endue them with truthfulness in speech,
اے معبود! تو ان لوگوں کوسچی بات کہنے،
وَ اٰدَاۤءَ الْاَمَانَةِ
fulfillment of trusts,
امانت ادا کرنے
وَ الْمُحَافَظَةَ عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ
and constant attendance to prayers.
اور نماز قائم رکھنے کی توفیق دے
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّهُمْ اَحَقُّ خَلْقِكَ اَنْ تَفْعَلَهُ بِهِم
O Allah, they are the worthiest of all of Your creatures to obtain this from You;
اے معبود! وہ تیری مخلوق میں سے اس کے زیادہ مستحق ہیں تو ایسا کرے
اَللّٰهُمَّ افْعَلْهُ بِهِمْ۔
therefore, O Allah, do it to them.
اے معبود! تو ان کے لیے ایسا ہی کر۔
Twelfth: Say this supplicatory prayer, which Imam ‘Ali Amir al-Mu’minin (‘a) used to say:
اَللّٰهُمَّ مُنَّ عَلَىَّ بِالتَّوَكُّلِ عَلَيْكَ
O Allah, endue me with reliance on You,
اے معبود! مجھ پر یہ احسان فرما کہ تجھ پر بھروسہ رکھوں
وَالتَّفْوِيْضِ اِلَيْكَ
entrusting (all my affairs) with You,
اپنے معاملے کو تیرے حوالہ کردوں
وَالرِّضَا بِقَدَرِكَ
satisfaction with Your decree,
تیری تقدیر پر راضی رہوں
وَ التَّسْلِيْمِ لِاَمْرِكَ
and submission to Your ordinance
اور تیرے حکم کے آگے جھکوں
حَتّٰى لَاۤ اُحِبَّ تَعْجِيْلَ مَاۤ اَخَّرْتَ
so that I would not long for hastening what You delay
وہ یوں کہ تیری تاخیر میں جلدی نہ چاہوں
وَ لَاتَاْخِيْرَ مَا عَجَّلْتَ
and delaying what You hasten.
اور تیری جلدی میں تاخیر نہ چاہوں
يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ
O Lord of the worlds!
اے جہانوں کے رب۔
Thirteenth: It is reported that Archangel Gabriel came to the Holy Prophet (s) and conveyed to him the following message from Almighty Allah: If you want to worship Me a whole night and a whole day perfectly, you may raise your hands towards Me and say this supplicatory prayer:
اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدًا
O Allah, all praise be to You
خدایا تیرے لیے وہ حمد ہے
خَالِدًا مَعَ خُلُوْدِكَ
that is as eternal as You are.
جو تیرے ساتھ باقی رہنے والی ہے
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ
All praise be to You
اور تیرے لیے وہ حمد ہے
حَمْدًا لَا مُنْتَهٰى لَهُ دُوْنَ عِلْمِكَ
that never ends save Your knowledge (about it).
جس کی کوئی انتہا نہیں ہے
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ
All praise be to You
اور تیرے لیے وہ حمد ہے
حَمْدًا لَاۤ اَمَدَ لَهُ دُوْنَ مَشِيَّتِكَ
that has no limit save when You will.
جس کی کوئی حد نہیں ہے علاوہ میری مشیت کے
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ
All praise be to You
اور تیرے لیے وہ حمد ہے
حَمْدًا لَاجَزَاۤءَ لِقَاۤئِلِهِ اِلَّا رِضَاكَ
the recompense of whose sayer is nothing save Your pleasure.
جس کی کوئی جزا نہیں ہے سوائے میری رضا کے
اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ كُلُّهُ
O Allah, all praise entirely be to You,
خدایا تیرے لیے ساری حمد ہے
وَ لَكَ الْمَنُّ كُلُّهُ
all gratitude entirely is Yours,
سارا احسان تیرے لیے،
وَ لَكَ الْفَخْرُ كُلُّهُ
all pride entirely is Yours,
سارا فخر،
وَ لَكَ الْبَهَاۤءُ كُلُّهُ
all splendor entirely is Yours,
ساری وجاہت،
وَلَكَ النُّوْرُ كُلُّهُ
the whole light entirely is Yours,
ساری نورانیت،
وَ لَكَ الْعِزَّةُ كُلُّهَا
all mightiness entirely is Yours,
اور ساری عزّت،
وَ لَكَ الْجَبَرُوْتُ كُلُّهَا
all grandeur entirely is Yours,
اور ساری طاقت،
وَ لَكَ الْعَظَمَةُ كُلُّهَا
all greatness entirely is Yours,
اور ساری عظمت تیرے لیے ہے
وَ لَكَ الدُّنْيَا كُلُّهَا
the whole world entirely is Yours,
دنیا تیرے لیے
وَ لَكَ الْاٰخِرَةُ كُلُّهَا
the whole Hereafter entirely is Yours,
اور آخرت تیرے لیے
وَ لَكَ اللَّيْلُ وَالنَّهَارُ كُلُّهُ
all nights and all days entirely are Yours,
لیل و نہار سب تیرے لیے
وَ لَكَ الْخَلْقُ كُلُّهُ
all creation entirely is Yours,
اور ساری مخلوقات تیرے لیے
وَ بِيَدِكَ الْخَيْرُ كُلُّهُ
the good entirely is in Your hand,
سارا خیر تیرے ہاتھوں میں ہے
وَ اِلَيْكَ يَرْجِعُ الْاَمْرُ كُلُّهُ
and all affairs entirely are returned to You,
اور ہر امر کی بازگشت تیرے لیے۔
عَلَانِيَتُهُ وَ سِرُّهُ
both the open and the hidden.
تمام معاملے وہ ظاہری ہوں یا باطنی
اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدًا اَبَدًا
O Allah, all praise eternally be to You.
خدایا تیرے لیے دائمی حمد ہے،
اَنْتَ حَسَنُ الْبَلَاۤءِ
You are the sympathetic in ordeals,
تو بہترین امتحان لینے والا ہے
جَلِيْلُ الثَّنَاۤءِ
the lofty in praiseworthiness,
قابل تعریف،
سَابِغُ النَّعْمَاۤءِ
the abundant in bestowals,
کامل نعمتیں دینے والا
عَدْلُ الْقَضَاۤءِ
the just in decreeing,
معادلاً فیصلہ کرنے والا ۔
جَزِيْلُ الْعَطَاۤءِ
the opulent in donation,
تیری عطا جزیل
حَسَنُ الْاٰلَاۤءِ
the excellent in graces,
اور تیرے احسانات عظیم ہیں۔
اِلٰهٌ فِى الْاَرْضِ
the god in the earth,
تو زمین کا خدا ہے
وَ اِلٰهٌ فِى السَّمَاۤءِ
and the god in the heavens.
تو آسمان کا خدا ہے
اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِى السَّبْعِ الشِّدَادِ
O Allah, all praise in the seven strong skies be to You,
خدایا تیرے لیے آسانوں پر حمد
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِى الْاَرْضِ الْمِهَادِ
all praise in the plain lands be to You,
تیرے لیے زمینوں پر حمد،
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ طَاقَةَ الْعِبَادِ
all praise that is as much as the scope of the servants be to You,
تیرے لیے بندوں کی طاقت
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ سَعَةَ الْبِلَادِ
all praise that is as extensive as lands be to You,
اور شہروں کی وسعت کے برابر حمد
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِى الْجِبَالِ الْاَوْتَادِ
all praise in the mountains that are as projections be to You,
تیرے لیے حمد ٹھوس پہاڑوں میں
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِى اللَّيْلِ اِذَا يَغْشٰى
all praise in the night when it draws a veil be to You,
تیرے لیے حمد رات کی تاریکی میں،
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِى النَّهَارِ اِذَا تَجَلّٰى
all praise in the daylight when it shines in brightness be to You,
تیرے لیے حمد دن کی روشنی میں،
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِى الْاٰخِرَةِ وَ الْاُوْلٰى
all praise in the last and the first be to You,
تیرے لیے حمد دنیا و آخرت میں،
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِى الْمَثَانِىْ وَالْقُرْاٰنِ الْعَظِيْمِ،
and all praise in the oft-repeated verses and the Great Qur'an be to You.
تیرے لیے حمد سورۂ حمد اور قرآن مجید میں
وَ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ وَ بِحَمْدِهِ
All glory be to Allah and in praise of Him.
تسبیح خدا کی تعریف اللہ کی
وَالْاَرْضُ جَمِيْعًا قَبْضَتُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ
The whole earth shall be in His grip on the Resurrection Day
اور زمین و آسمان سب اللہ کے ہیں سب اللہ کے قبضۂ قدرت میں ہیں ۔
وَالسَّمٰوَاتُ مَطْوِيَّاتٌ بِيَمِيْنِهِ
and the heavens rolled up in His right hand.
اور آسمان سب اللہ کے ہیں سب اللہ کے قبضۂ قدرت میں ہیں ۔
سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالٰى عَمَّا يُشْرِكُوْنَ
Glory be to Him and may He be exalted above what they associate with Him.
وہ مشرکوں کے خیالات سے برتر ہے۔
سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ وَ بِحَمْدِهِ
All glory be to Allah and in praise of Him.
بے نیاز ہے اس کی تسبیح اور اسی کی حمد ۔
كُلُّ شَيْئٍ هَالِكٌ اِلَّا وَجْهَهُ
Everything is perishable except His Face.
ہر شئی اس کے علاوہ فنا ہونے والی ہے ۔
سُبْحَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَ تَعَالَيْتَ
Glory be to You, O our Lord, exalted be You,
اے خدائے بے نیاز تو بلند
وَ تَبَارَكْتَ وَ تَقَدَّسْتَ
blessed be You, and holy be You.
و بابرکت ہے، پاکیزہ صفات ہے۔
خَلَقْتَ كُلَّ شَيْئٍ بِقُدْرَتِكَ
You have created all things by Your omnipotence,
تو نے ہر شئے کو اپنی قدرت سے پیدا کیا ہے، ہرشئی پر قادر ہے۔
وَ قَهَرْتَ كُلَّ شَيْئٍ بِعِزَّتِكَ
predominated over all things by Your almightiness,
تیری عزّت ہر چیز سے
وَ عَلَوْتَ فَوْقَ كُلِّ شَيْئٍ بِارْتِفَاعِكَ
towered above all things by Your elevation,
بلند و بالاتر ہے۔
وَ غَلَبْتَ كُلَّشَيْئٍ بِقُوَّتِكَ
overcome all things by Your power,
ہر شئی پر اپنی قوّت سے غلبہ رکھنے والا ہے ۔
وَ ابْتَدَعْتَ كُلَّ شَيْئٍ بِحِكْمَتِكَ وَ عِلْمِكَ
fashioned all things by Your wisdom and knowledge,
ہر چیز کو اپنی حکمت سے ایجاد کرنے والا ہے۔
وَ بَعَثْتَ الرُّسُلَ بِكُتُبِكَ
sent the messengers with Your Books,
رسولوں کو کتابوں کے ساتھ بھیجنے والا ہے،
وَ هَدَيْتَ الصَّالِحِيْنَ بِاِذْنِكَ
guided the righteous ones by Your permission,
نیک بندوں کی ہدایت کرنے والا ہے
وَ اَيَّدْتَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ بِنَصْرِكَ
aided the believers by Your victory,
مومنین کی مدد اور تائید کرنے والا ہے
وَ قَهَرْتَ الْخَلْقَ بِسُلْطَانِكَ
and overpowered all the creatures by Your authority.
مخلوقات پر غلبہ رکھنے والا ہے۔
لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ
There is no god save You;
تیرے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں،
وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَكَ
You are one and only and there is no associate with You.
کوئی معبود نہیں، تیرا کوئی شریک نہیں
لَا نَعْبُدُ غَيْرَكَ
We serve none but You,
ہم تیرے غیر کی عبادت نہیں کرتے
وَلَانَسْئَلُ اِلَّاۤ اِيَّاكَ
we beseech none but You,
ہم تیرے علاوہ کسی سے نہیں مانگتے
وَلَانَرْغَبُ اِلَّاۤ اِلَيْكَ
and we desire for none but You.
تیرے علاوہ کسی کی طرف نہیں جھکتے
اَنْتَ مَوْضِعُ شَكْوَانَا
You are the target of our complaints,
تو ہی ہماری شکایتیں سننے والا
وَ مُنْتَهٰى رَغْبَتِنَا
the utmost of our desires,
ہماری رغبت کا آخری مقام
وَ اِلٰهُنَا وَ مَلِيْكُنَا
the God, and the Master of us.
ہمارا معبود اور ہمارا مالک ہے ۔
