Merits of reciting Ayat al Kursi (2: 255), Ayat al Shahadah, Ayat al Mulk after every Namaz

Eighth: Through an authenticated (i.e. muwaththaq) chain of authority, Imam al-Sadiq(a.s.) is reported to have said:

When the following verses (of the Holy Qur’an) were ordered by Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, to descend to the earth, they held fast to the Divine Throne and said, “O Lord! Where are ordering us to descend? Is it to the people of evildoings and sins?” Therefore, Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, revealed to them, saying, “Descend! By My Almightiness and Majesty I take this oath; no one of Muhammad’s family and their adherents (Shi’ah) reads you but that I shall most certainly look at him with my Hidden Eye seventy times every day. In each look, I settle seventy of his needs and accept him despite of his acts of disobedience (to Me).”

According to another form of the same tradition, Almighty Allah has said, “Whoever recites these verses immediately after each prayer, I will allow him to dwell under the shed of My Sacredness despite of his acts of disobedience to Me. If I do not do that, I will settle seventy of his needs every day, the least of which is that I forgive his sins. If I do not do that either, I will protect him from Satan and from every enemy of his, I will grant him victory against these enemies, and nothing will prevent him from entering Paradise except death.”

These verses are the following:

(1) Surah al-Faatehah.

(2) Ayah al-Kursi along with the two verses (2:255-257)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Allah is He besides Whom there is no god,

اللہ جس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے

the Ever-living, the Self-subsisting.

زندہ بھی ہے اوراسی سے کل کائنات قائم ہے

Slumber does not overtake Him nor sleep.

اسے نہ نیند آتی ہے نہ اُونگھ

Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His.

آسمانوں اور زمین میں جو کچھ بھی ہے سب اسی کا ہے.

Who is he that can intercede with Him but by His permission?

کون ہے جو اس کی بارگاہ میں اس کی اجازت کے بغیر سفارش کرسکے.

He knows what is before them and what is behind them,

وہ جو کچھ ان کے سامنے ہے اور جو پبُ پشت ہے سب کوجانتا ہے

and they cannot comprehend anything out of His knowledge except what He pleases.

اور یہ اس کے علم کے ایک حّصہ کا بھی احاطہ نہیں کرسکتے مگر وہ جس قدر چاہے.

His knowledge extends over the heavens and the earth,

اس کی کرس علم و اقتدار زمین و آسمان سے وسیع تر ہے

and the preservation of them both tires Him not,

اور اسے ان کے تحفظ میں کوئی تکلیف بھی نہیں ہوتی

and He is the Most High, the Great.

وہ عالی مرتبہ بھی ہے اور صاحبِ عظمت بھی

There is no compulsion in religion;

دین میں کسی طرح کا جبر نہیں ہے.

truly the right way has become clearly distinct from error.

ہدایت گمراہی سے الگ اور واضح ہوچکی ہے.

Therefore, whoever disbelieves in the false deity and believes in Allah,

اب جو شخص بھی طاغوت کا انکار کرکے اللہ پر ایمان لے آئے

he indeed has laid hold on the firmest handle,

وہ اس کی مضبوط رسّی سے متمسک ہوگیا ہے

which shall not break off,

جس کے ٹوٹنے کا امکان نہیں ہے

and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.

اور خدا سمیع بھی ہے اور علیم بھی ہے

Allah is the guardian of those who believe.

اللہ صاحبانِ ایمان کا ولی ہے

He brings them out of the darkness into the light;

وہ انہیں تاریکیوں سے نکال کر روشنی میں لے آتا ہے

and as to those who disbelieve, their guardians are the false deities

اور کفارکے ولی طاغوت ہیں

who take them out of the light into the darkness.

جو انہیں روشنی سے نکال کر اندھیروں میں لے جاتے ہیں

These are the inmates of the fire,

یہی لوگ جہّنمی ہیں

in it they shall abide.

اور وہاں ہمیشہ رہنے والے ہیں

(3) Verses of Bearing Witness (Ayah al-Shahadah; 3:18-19):

Allah bears witness that there is no god but He,

اللہ گواہ ہے کہ اس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے،

and (so do) the angels and those possessed of knowledge,

ملائکہ اور صاحبانِ علم گواہ ہیں۔

maintaining His creation with justice.

وہ خدا عادل ہے۔

There is no god but He,

اس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے۔

the Mighty, the Wise.

وہی عزیز و حکیم ہے۔

Surely the (true) religion with Allah is Islam,

دین اللہ کے نزدیک صرف اسلام ہے

and those to whom the Book had been given did not show opposition

اور اہلِ کتاب نے جو بھی جھگڑا ڈالا ہے

but after knowledge had come to them,

وہ سب علم کے آنے کے بعد،

out of envy among themselves;

یہ ان کی زیادتی ہے

and whoever disbelieves in the communications of Allah

اور جو بھی اللہ کی آیات سے انکار کرے گا

then surely Allah is quick in reckoning.

خدا بہت جلد حساب کرنے والا ہے۔

(4) Verses of Kingdom (Ayah al-Mulk; 3:26-27):

Say: O Allah, Master of the Kingdom!

خدایا تو مالک الملک ہے،

You give the kingdom to whomsoever You please

جس کو چاہتا ہے ملک دے دیتا ہے،

and take away the kingdom from whomsoever You please

جس سے چاہتا ہے ملک لے لیتا ہے،

and You exalt whom You please

جسے چاہتا ہے عزّت دیتا ہے

and abase whom You please

جسے چاہتا ہے ذلیل کردیتا ہے۔

in Your hand is the good;

سارا خیر تیرے ہاتھوں میں ہے۔

surely, You have power over all things.

تو ہر شئے پر قادر ہے

You make the night to pass into the day

اور رات کو دن میں

and You make the day to pass into the night,

اور دن کو رات میں داخل کردیتا ہے۔

and You bring forth the living from the dead

زندہ کو مردہ سے

and You bring forth the dead from the living,

اور مردہ کو زندہ سے نکال لیتا ہے

and You give sustenance to whom You please without measure.

اور جسے چاہتا ہے بے حساب روزی عنایت فرماتا ہے۔
