The Supplication of Consulting.
Sayyid Ibn Tawus, in Muhaj al-Da’awat, has narrated that Imam Ali Ameer al-Momineen(a.s.) said, “The Messenger of Allah (a.s.) taught me this supplication and ordered me to say it under all circumstances - sorrow and joy. He also instructed me to convey it to my heir and not to leave it as long as I am alive until I meet Almighty Allah. Additionally, the Messenger of Allah (a.s.) ordered me to say the supplication every morning and evening, for it is one of the treasures of the Divine Throne.” As ‘Abdullah ibn Ubayy begged the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) to tell more about the merits of the supplication, the Holy Prophet did. Anyhow, for acquaintance with the merits of this supplication, the gentle reader is advised to refer to the book of Muhaj al-Da’awat.
The supplication is as follows:
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful
بنام خدائے رحمان و رحیم
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِىْ
All praise is due to Allah.
ساری حمد اس اللہ کے لئے ہے
لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ
There is no god but He,
جس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے۔
الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ الْمُبِيْنُ
the True, Manifest King.
وہ بادشاہ حق مبین ہے۔
الْمُدَبِرُّ بِلَا وَزِيْرٍ
He is the Administrator without any minister
بغیر کسی وزیر کے تدبیر کرنے والا
وَلَا خَلْقٍ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ يَسْتَشِيْرُ،
and without consultation with any of his slaves.
اور بغیر بندوں کے مشورہ کے عمل کرنے والا۔
الْاَوَّلُ غَيْرُ مَوْصُوْفٍ (مَصْرُوْفٍ)،
He is the First Who cannot be described.
وہ سب سے اوّل ہے جس کی کوئی توصیف ممکن نہیں ہے
وَالْبَاقى بَعْدَ فَنَاۤءِ الْخَلْقِ،
He is Eternal after the annihilation of all creatures.
اور ساری مخلوقات کے بعد تک وہ رہنے والا ہے۔
الْعَظِيْمُ الرُّبُوْبِيَّةِ،
He is the greatest Cherisher,
اس کی ربوبیت عظیم ہے۔
نُوْرُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْاَرَضِيْنَ
the Light of the heavens and the earth
وہ آسمان و زمین کا نور،
وَفَاطِرُهُمَا وَمُبْتَدِعُهُمَا
and their Creator and Maker out of nothing.
ان کا خالق اور ان کا موجد ہے۔
بِغَيْرِ عَمَدٍ خَلَقَهُمَا وَفَتَقَهُمَا فَتْقًا
He created both of them and separated them with a proper separation;
اس نے دونوں کو بغیر کسی ستون کے خلق کیا ہے اور پھر الگ الگ کر دیا ہے کہ
فَقَامَتِ السَّمَاوَاتُ طَاۤئِعَاتٍ بِاَمْرِهِ
the heavens hence became stable in obedience to His command
آسمان اس کے امر کی اطاعت کے لئے قائم ہو گئے
وَاسْتَقَرَّتِ الْاَرْضُوْنَ (الْاَرْضِ) بِاَوْتَادِهَا فَوْقَ الْمَاۤءِ،
and the earths became fixed on the surface of the water with their pegs.
اور زمین اپنی کیلوں کی بنا پر ٹھہر گئی۔
ثُمَّ عَلَا رَبُّنَا فِىْ السَّمَاوَاتِ الْعُلٰى
Then, our Lord subdued the high heavens,
اس کے بعد پروردگار آسمان پر حاوی تھا
اَلرَّحْمٰنُ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوٰى،
the All-beneficent, ruled from the Throne.
تو اس نے عرش پر اپنا اقتدار قائم کیا۔
لَهُ مَا فِى السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِى الْاَرْضِ
Everything that is in the heavens and in the earth,
جو کچھ زمین و آسمان
وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَمَا تَحْتَ الثَّرٰى،
and in between them and what is below the earth belongs to Him.
اور ان کے درمیان اور جو زمین ہے، سب اسی کا ہے۔
فَاَنَا اَشْهَدُ بِاَنَّكَ اَنْتَ اللهُ
So, I bear witness that You are verily Allah;
میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ خدایا کہ تو ہی خدا ہے۔
لَا رَافِعَ لِمَا وَضَعْتَ،
there is none to elevate what You may lower,
جسے تو گرا دے اسے کوئی اٹھانے والا نہیں ہے
وَلَا وَاضِعَ لِمَا رَفَعْتَ،
none to lower what You may elevate,
اور جسے تو اٹھا دے اسے کوئی گرانے والا نہیں ہے۔
وَلَا مُعِزَّ لِمَنْ اَذْلَلْتَ،
no one to exalt him whom You leave in disgrace,
جسے تو ذلیل کردے اسے کوئی عزت دینے والا نہیں ہے
وَلَا مُذِلَّ لِمَنْ اَعْزَزْتَ،
no one to bring into disgrace him whom You exalt,
اور جسے تو عزت دے دے اُسے ذلیل کرنے والا نہیں ہے۔
وَلَا مَانِعَ لِمَا اَعْطَيْتَ،
no one to prevent him upon whom You bestow Your favor,
جسے تو عطا کردے اسے کوئی روکنے والا نہیں ہے
وَلَا مُعْطِىَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ،
and no one to bestow anything which You may withhold.
اور جسے تو روک دے اسے کوئی عطا کرنے والا نہیں ہے۔
وَاَنْتَ اللهُ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
You are Allah, there is no god but You;
تو وہ خدا ہے جس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے۔
كُنْتَ اِذْ لَمْ تَكُنْ سَمَاۤءٌ مَبْنِيَّةٌ
You existed when there was neither stable sky,
تو اس وقت بھی تھا جب آسمانوں کی بنا نہ تھی
وَلَا اَرْضٌ مَدْحِيَّةٌ
nor broad earth,
اور زمین کا فرش نہ تھا۔
وَلَا شَمْسٌ مُضِيْـئَةٌ
nor brilliant sun,
نہ چمکتا سورج،
وَلَا لَيْلٌ مُظْلِمٌ،
nor dark night,
نہ تاریک رات
وَلَا نَهَارٌ مُضِيْىءٌ،
nor bright day
اور نہ روشن دن،
وَلَا بَحْرٌ لُجِّىٌّ
nor vast ocean,
نہ گہرے سمندر
وَلَا جَبَلٌ رَاسٍ،
nor stable mountain,
نہ مستحکم پہاڑ۔
وَلَا نَجْمٌ سَّارٍ،
nor revolving planet,
نہ سیا ہ ستارے
وَلَا قَمَرٌ مُنِيْرٌ،
nor luminous moon,
اور نہ تابناک چاند۔
وَلَا رِيْحٌ تَهُبُّ،
nor blowing wind,
نہ چلتی ہوائیں
وَلَا سَحَابٌ يَسْكُبُ،
nor raining cloud,
اور نہ برستے بادل۔
وَلَا بَرْقٌ يَلْمَعُ،
nor flashing lightning,
نہ چمکتی برق
وَلَا رَعْدٌ يُسَبِّحُ،
nor praising thunder,
اور نہ تسبیح کرتی ہوئی گرج۔
وَلَا رُوْحٌ تَنَفَّسُ،
nor breathing soul,
نہ سانس لیتی ہوئی روح
وَلَا طَاۤئِرٌ يَطِيْرُ،
nor flying bird,
اور نہ اڑتے ہوئے طائر۔
وَلَا نَارٌ تَتَوَقَّدُ،
nor blazing fire,
نہ بھڑکتی ہوئی آگ
وَلَا مَاۤءٌ يَطَّرِدُ
nor flowing water.
اور نہ بہتا ہوا پانی۔
كُنْتَ قَبْلَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
You existed before the existence of all things,
تو ہر شئے سے پہلے تھا
وَكَوَّنْتَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ
You created everything,
تو نے ہی ہر شئے کو ایجاد کیاہے۔
وَقَدَرْتَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
had power over everything,
تو ہر شئے پر قادر ہے
وَابْتَدَعْتَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ
and originated everything.
اور ہر شئے کا موجد ہے۔
وَاَغْنَيْتَ وَاَفْقَرْتَ
You enriched some and reduced others to poverty,
تو نے ہی مالداری، فقیری،
وَ اَمَتَّ وَاَحْيَيْتَ
caused some to die and brought others to life,
حیات، موت،
وَاَضْحَكْتَ وَاَبْكَيْتَ
and made some laugh and others weep.
مسرت اور گریہ عطا فرمایا ہے۔
وَعَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوَيْتَ
Verily, You rule from the Throne.
عرش پر تیرا اقتدارہے۔
فَتَبَارَكْتَ يَا اَللهُ وَ تَعَالَيْتَ،
Blessed and Exalted be You, O Allah.
تو با برکت اور بلند و بالا ہے۔
اَنْتَ اللهُ الَّذِىْ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
You are Allah save Whom there is no god;
تو ہی وہ ہے جس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے۔
الْخَلَّاقُ الْمُعِيْنُ (الْعَلِيْمُ)
the Creator and Supporter.
خلق کرنے والا اور مدد کرنے والا۔
اَمْرُكَ غَالِبٌ
Your Decree is overpowering,
تیرا امر غالب،
وَعِلْمُكَ نَافِذٌ،
Your Knowledge is operative,
تیرا علم نافذ۔
وَكَيْدُكَ غَرِيْبٌ،
Your strategy is wonderful,
تیری تدبیر عجیب و غریب
وَوَعْدُكَ صَادِقٌ،
Your promise is fulfilled,
تیرا وعدہ سچّا۔
وَقَوْلُكَ حَقٌّ
Your saying is true,
تیرا قول برحق۔
وَحُكْمُكَ عَدْلٌ،
Your judgment is fair,
تیرا فیصلہ عادلانہ۔
وَكَلَامُكَ هُدًى،
Your words are right guidance,
تیرا کلام ہدایت۔
وَوَحْيُكَ نُوْرٌ،
Your Revelation is light,
تیری وحی نور۔
وَرَحْمَتُكَ وَاسِعَةٌ،
Your mercy is all-inclusive,
تیری رحمت وسیع۔
وَعَفْوُكَ عَظِيْمٌ،
Your forgiveness is superb,
تیری معافی عظیم۔
وَفَضْلُكَ كَثِيْرٌ،
Your grace is excessive,
تیرا فضل کثیر
وَعَطَاؤُكَ جَزِيْلٌ،
Your gift is most abundant,
اور تیری عطا بیشمار ہے۔
وَحَبْلُكَ مَتِيْنٌ،
Your cord is strong,
تیرا رشتہ مضبوط
وَاِمْكَانُكَ عَتِيْدٌ،
Your ability is ever ready,
اور تیری امداد ہمیشہ مہیّا ہے۔
وَجَارُكَ عَزِيْزٌ،
Your protege is supported,
تیرا ہمسایہ صاحب عزت ہے
وَبَاْسُكَ شَدِيْدٌ،
Your prowess is strong,
اور تیرا عذاب شدید
وَمَكْرُكَ مَكِيْدٌ،
and Your stratagem is entrapping.
اور تیرا انتقام سخت ہے۔
اَنْتَ يَا رَبِ مَوْضِعُ كُلِّ شَكْوٰى
You, O my Lord, are the target of all complaints,
تو اے پروردگار ہر فریاد کی منزل ہے۔
وَحَاضِرُ كُلِّ مَلَاۤءٍ
the present in all gatherings,
ہر مجمع میں حاضر۔
وَشَاهِدُ كُلِّ نَجْوٰى،
the witness of all confidential talks,
ہر راز کا گواہ۔
مُنْتَهٰى كُلِّ حَاجَةٍ
the ultimate goal of all requests,
ہر حاجت کی منزل آخر۔
مُفَرِّجُ كُلِّ حُزْنٍ (حَزِيْنٍ)
the expeller of all sorrows,
ہر رنج کا دور کرنے والا۔
غِنٰى كُلِّ مِسْكِيْنٍ
the affluence of every needy,
ہر مسکین کا سرمایہ۔
حِصْنُ كُلِّ هَارِبٍ
the stronghold for every refugee,
ہر بھاگے ہوئے کا قلعہ
اَمَانُ كُلِّ خَاۤئِفٍ،
the security of every fearful,
اور ہر خوف زدہ کی امان ہے۔
حِرْزُ الضُّعَفَاۤءِ
the shield of the weak,
تو ضعیفوں کے لئے حرز،
كَنْزُ الْفُقَرَاۤءِ،
the treasure for the indigent,
فقیروں کے لئے خزانہ
مُفَرِّجُ الْغَمَّاۤءِ
the destroyer of grief,
غم زدہ کے لئے باعث نشاط،
مُعِيْنُ الصَّالِحِيْنَ،
and the helper of the righteous.
نیک کرداروں کے لئے مددگار ہے۔
ذٰلِكَ اللهُ رَبُّنَا لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ،
Such is Allah, our Lord. There is no god but He.
یہ ہے ہمارا پروردگار جن کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے۔
تَكْفٰى مِنْ عِبَادِكَ مَنْ تَوَكَّلَ عَلَيْكَ
You satisfy such of Your slaves as trust in You.
تو ہر اس بندہ کے لئے کافی ہے جو تجھ پر بھروسہ کرے
وَاَنْتَ جَارُ مَنْ لَاذَ بِكَ وَتَضَرَّعَ اِلَيْكَ
You are the protector of him who has recourse to You and implore You,
اور اس کی پناہ ہے جو تیری پناہ لے۔ اور تیری طرف فریاد کرے
عِصْمَةُ مَنِ اعْتَصَمَ بِكَ
the haven of him who seeks Your haven,
ہر طالب حفاظت کا محافظ ہے
نَاصِرُ مَنِ انْتَصَرَ بِكَ
the supporter of him who looks up to You support,
اور ہر طالب انتقام کا مددگار ہے۔
تَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوْبَ لِمَنِ اسْتَغْفَرَكَ،
the forgiver of sins of him who begs Your forgiveness,
استغفار کرنے والوں کے گناہوں کو بخش دیتا ہے۔
جَبَّارُ الْجَبَابِرَةِ،
the Compeller of the tyrants,
تو جابروں پر قہر کرنے والا
عَظِيْمُ الْعُظَمَاۤءِ
the Most Grand of the grand,
عظیموں سے عظیم تر
كَبِيْرُ الْكُبَرَاۤءِ،
the Most Great of the great,
اور بزرگوں سے بزرگ تر ہے۔
سَيِّدُ السَّادَاتِ
the Master of masters,
آقاؤں کا آقا
مَوْلَى الْمَوَالِىْ
the Lord of lords,
مولاؤں کا مولاہے۔
صَرِيْخُ الْمُسْتَصْرِخِيْنَ
the Succor of the grieved,
فریادیوں کا فریاد رس۔
مُنَفِّسٌ عَنِ الْمَكْرُوْبِيْنَ،
the Reliever of the aggrieved,
رنجیدہ لوگوں کو سکون دینے والا،
مُجِيْبُ دَعْوَةِ الْمُضْطَرِّيْنَ
the Responder to the calls of the distressed,
مضطر لوگوں کی دعا قبول کرنے والا،
اَسْمَعُ السَّامِعِيْنَ
the most hearing of the hearers,
بہترین سننے والا۔
اَبْصَرُ النَّاظِرِيْنَ
the most-seeing of all observers,
بہترین دیکھنے والا۔
اَحْكَمُ الْحَاكِمِيْنَ
the justest of all judges,
بہترین فیصلہ کرنے والا
اَسْرَعُ الْحَاسِبِيْنَ
the quickest in reckoning,
اور بہت جلد حساب کرنے والا ہے۔
اَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
the most merciful of all the merciful,
سب سے زیادہ مہربان
خَيْرُ الغَافِرِيْنَ،
the best of all forgivers,
سب سے بہتر بخشنے والا۔
قَاضِىْ حَوَاۤئِجِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
the satisfier of the needs of the faithful,
مومنین کی حاجتوں کا پورا کرنے والا
مُغِيْثُ الصَّالِحِيْنَ
and the succorer of the righteous.
اور نیک کرداروں کا فریاد رس ہے۔
اَنْتَ اللهُ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
You are Allah, there is no god but You,
تو وہ خدا ہے جس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے
رَبُّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ،
the Lord of the worlds.
اور تو رب العالمین ہے۔
اَنْتَ الْخَالِقُ وَاَنَا الْمَخْلُوْقُ
You are the Creator and I am a creature,
تو خالق ہے میں مخلوق ہوں۔
وَاَنْتَ الْمَالِكُ وَاَنَا الْمَمْلُوْكُ
You are the Master and I am a servant,
تو مالک ہے اور مملوک ہوں۔
وَاَنْتَ الرَّبُّ وَاَنَا الْعَبْدُ
You are the Lord and I am a slave,
تو رب ہے اور میں بندہ ہوں۔
وَاَنْتَ الرَّازِقُ وَاَنَا الْمَرْزُوْقُ
You are the Provider while I am provided with sustenance,
تو رازق ہے اور میں طالب رزق ہوں۔
وَاَنْتَ الْمُعْطِىْ وَاَنَا السَّاۤئِلُ
You are the Giver while I am a beggar,
تو مطیع ہے اور میں سائل ہوں۔
وَاَنْتَ الْجَوَادُ وَاَنَا الْبَخِيْلُ،
You are the Generous while I am a miser,
تو کریم ہے اور میں بخیل ہوں۔
وَاَنْتَ الْقَوِىُّ وَاَنَا الضَّعِيْفُ
You are the Mighty while I am weak,
تو قوی ہے اور میں ضعیف ہوں۔
وَاَنْتَ الْعَزِيْزُ وَاَنَا الذَّلِيْلُ،
You are the Noble while I am humble,
تو صاحب عزّت ہے اور میں ذلیل ہوں۔
وَاَنْتَ الْغَنِىُّ وَاَنَا الْفَقِيْرُ،
You are the Independent while I am needy,
تو غنی ہے اور میں فقیر ہوں۔
وَاَنْتَ السَّيِّدُ وَاَنَا الْعَبْدُ،
You are the Master while I am slave,
تو آقا ہےاور بندہ ہوں۔
وَاَنْتَ الْغَافِرُ وَاَنَا الْمُسِيْئُ
You are the Forgiver of sins while I am sinful,
تو بخشنے والا ہےاور میں بدعمل ہوں۔
وَاَنْتَ الْعَالِمُ وَاَنَا الْجَاهِلُ،
You are the Omniscient while I am ignorant,
تو عالم ہے اور میں جاہل ہوں۔
وَاَنْتَ الْحَلِيْمُ وَاَنَا الْعَجُوْلُ،
You are the forbearing while I am hasty,
تو حلیم ہے اور میں جلد باز ہوں۔
وَاَنْتَ الرَّحْمٰنُ وَاَنَا الْمَرْحُوْمُ،
You are the All-Merciful and I lack mercy,
تو رحمٰن ہے اور میں قابل رحم ہوں۔
وَاَنْتَ الْمُعَافِىْ وَاَنَا الْمُبْتَلٰى،
You are the Healer but I am involved in suffering,
تو قبول کرنے والا ہے
وَاَنْتَ الْمُجِيْبُ وَاَنَا الْمُضْطَرُّ،
and You are the Responder and I am the distressed.
اور میں مضطر ہوں
وَاَنَا اَشْهَدُ بِانَّكَ اَنْتَ اللهُ
I bear witness that You are verily Allah,
اور میں اس بات کی گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ
لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
there is no god but You,
تو ہی وہ خدا ہے جس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے
الْمُعْطِىْ عِبَادَكَ بِلَا سُؤَالٍ،
You bestow favors upon Your slaves before they beseech them.
اور تو بندوں کو بِلا سوال عطا کرنے والا ہے۔
وَاَشْهَدُ بِاَنَّكَ اَنْتَ اللهُ
I bear witness that You are verily Allah,
اور میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ تو خدائے
الْوَاحِدُ الْاَحَدُ الْمُتَفَرِّدُ الصَّمَدُ الْفَرْدُ
the One, the Peerless, the Unique, the Independent, the Single,
واحد و یکتا و بے نیاز اور یگانہ ہے۔
وَاِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيْرُ،
and to You is the return.
تیری ہی طرف سب کی بازگشت ہے۔
وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَاَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الطَّيِّبِيْنَ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ
May the blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad and his Household, the immaculate and pure.
اللہ، محمؐد اور ان کے اہل بیت طیبین و طاہرینؑ پر رحمت نازل کرے۔
وَاغْفِرْ لِىْ ذُنُوبِىْ
Forgive my sins,
خدایا میرے گناہوں کو معاف کردے،
وَاسْتُرْ عَلَىَّ عُيُوُبِىْ
keep my faults concealed,
میرے عیوب کی پردہ پوشی فرما۔
وَافْتَحْ لِىْ مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً وَرِزْقًا وَاسِعًا
and extend to me Your special and bounteous sustenance.
میرے لئے رحمت اور رزق وسیع کے دروازے کھول دے۔
يَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
O most Merciful of all those who show mercy!
اے بہترین رحم کرنے والے۔
وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ
All praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
ساری حمد اس اللہ کے لئے ہے جو رب العالمین ہے
وَحَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَنْعِمَ الْوَكِيْلُ
Allah is the Sufficient to us and excellent Protector is He.
وہی ہمارے لئے کافی ہے اور وہی بہترین ذمہ دار ہے۔
وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ الْعَلِىِّ الْعَظِيْمِ
There is neither might nor power but with Allah, the All-high, the All-great.
خدائے علی و عظیم کے علاوہ نہ کوئی طاقت ہے اور نہ کوئی توانائی۔
