113 : Al Falaq

SURAH AL-FALAQ (THE DAWN)

This is a ‘Madani’ surah and it has 5 verses. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (S) that whoever recites this surah in the month of Ramadhan in any of his prayers, it is as if he has fasted in Mecca and he will get the reward for performing Hajj and ‘Umra.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s.) said that in the prayer of Shafa’a (in Salaatul-layl) one should recite surah al-Falaq in the first rak’aat and an-Naas in the second.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

(1) Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn,

(1) کہہ دیجئے کہ میں صبح کے مالک کی پناہ چاہتا ہوں

(2) From the evil of what He has created,

(2) تمام مخلوقات کے شر سے

(3) And from the evil of the utterly dark night when it comes,

(3) اور اندھیری رات کے شر سے جب اس کا اندھیرا چھا جائے

(4) And from the evil of those who blow on knots,

(4) اور گنڈوں پر پھونکنے والیوں کے شر سے

(5) And from the evil of the envious when he envies

(5) اور ہرحسد کرنے والے کے شر سے جب بھی وہ حسد کرے
