100 : Al Adiyat

SURAH AL-‘AADIYAAT (THE ASSAULTERS)

There are 11 verses in this surah and it was revealed in Mecca. In a tradition from the Holy Prophet (S) it is said that the reward for reciting this surah is equivalent to ten times the number who are present in ‘Arafah and Muzdalifa at the time of Hajj.

Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said that those people who recite surah al-‘Aadiyaat everyday will be counted from the companions of Ameerul Mu’mineen (a.s.) and it has also been narrated that reciting this surah daily carries the reward of reciting the entire Qur’an. If a person has many creditors, recitation of this surah will help clear his debts.

If recited by a person in fear, this surah brings him to safety; if recited by a hungry person, it helps in his finding sustenance; if recited by a thirsty person, his thirst will be quenched.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

(1) I swear by the runners breathing pantingly,

(1) فراٹے بھرتے ہوئے تیز رفتار گھوڑوں کی قسم

(2) Then those that produce fire striking,

(2) جوٹا پ مار کر چنگاریاں اُڑانے والے ہیں

(3) Then those that make raids at morn,

(3) پھر صبح دم حملہ کرنے والے ہیں

(4) Then thereby raise dust,

(4) پھر غبار جنگ اڑانے والے نہیں

(5) Then rush thereby upon an assembly:

(5) اور دشمن کی جمعیت میں در آنے والے ہیں

(6) Most surely man is ungrateful to his Lord.

(6) بے شک انسان اپنے پروردگار کے لئے بڑا ناشکرا ہے

(7) And most surely he is a witness of that.

(7) اور وہ خود بھی اس بات کا گواہ ہے

(8) And most surely he is tenacious in the love of wealth.

(8) اور وہ مال کی محبت میں بہت سخت ہے

(9) Does he not then know when what is in the graves is raised,

(9) کیا اسے نہیں معلوم ہے کہ جب مردوں کو قبروں سے نکالا جائے گا

(10) And what is in the breasts is made apparent?

(10) اور دل کے رازوں کو ظاہر کردیا جائے گا

(11) Most surely their Lord that day shall be fully aware of them.

(11) تو ان کا پروردگار اس دن کے حالات سے خوب باخبر ہوگا
