۹۱ : سورة الشمس
SURAH AS-SHAMS (THE SUN)
This is a ‘Makki’ surah and has 15 verses. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (S) that the reward for reciting this surah is compared to the things upon which the sun and the moon shine.
Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said that the person who recites surah as-Shams, al-Layl, ad-Dhuha and al-Inshirah will, on the Day of Judgement, find all creatures of the earth testifying on his behalf and Allah will accept their testimony and give him a place in Paradise. Recitation of this surah also leads to an increase in sustenance, courage and popularity amongst the people.
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحٰٮهَاۙ(1)
(1) I swear by the sun and its brilliance,
(1) آفتاب اور اس کی روشنی کی قسم
وَالْقَمَرِ اِذَا تَلٰٮهَا ۙ(2)
(2) And the moon when it follows the sun,
(2) اور چاند کی قسم جب وہ اس کے پیچھے چلے
وَالنَّهَارِ اِذَا جَلّٰٮهَا ۙ(3)
(3) And the day when it shows it,
(3) اور دن کی قسم جب وہ روشنی بخشے
وَالَّيْلِ اِذَا يَغْشٰٮهَا ۙ(4)
(4) And the night when it draws a veil over it,
(4) اور رات کی قسم جب وہ اسے ڈھانک لے
وَالسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنٰٮهَا ۙ(5)
(5) And the heaven and Him Who made it,
(5) اور آسمان کی قسم اور جس نے اسے بنایا ہے
وَالْاَرْضِ وَمَا طَحٰٮهَا ۙ(6)
(6) And the earth and Him Who extended it,
(6) اور زمین کی قسم اور جس نے اسے بچھایا ہے
وَنَفْسٍ وَّمَا سَوّٰٮهَا ۙ(7)
(7) And the soul and Him Who made it perfect,
(7) اور نفس کی قسم اور جس نے اسے درست کیاہے
فَاَلْهَمَهَا فُجُوْرَهَا وَتَقْوٰٮهَا ۙ(8)
(8) Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it;
(8) پھر بدی اور تقویٰ کی ہدایت دی ہے
قَدْ اَفْلَحَ مَنْ زَكّٰٮهَا ۙ(9)
(9) He will indeed be successful who purifies it,
(9) بے شک وہ کامیاب ہوگیا جس نے نفس کو پاکیزہ بنالیا
وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسّٰٮهَا ؕ(10)
(10) And he will indeed fail who corrupts it.
(10) اور وہ نامراد ہوگیا جس نے اسے آلودہ کردیا ہے
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُوْدُ بِطَغْوٰٮهَآ ۙ(11)
(11) Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy,
(11) ثمود نے اپنی سرکشی کی بنا پر رسول کی تذکیب کی
اِذِ انْۢبَعَثَ اَشْقٰٮهَا ۙ(12)
(12) When the most unfortunate of them broke forth with
(12) جب ان کا بدبخت اٹھ کھڑا ہوا
فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُوْلُ اللّٰهِ نَاقَةَ اللّٰهِ وَسُقْيٰهَا ؕ(13)
(13) So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink.
(13) تو خدا کے رسول نے کہا کہ خدا کی اونٹنی اور اس کی سیرابی کا خیال رکھنا
فَكَذَّبُوْهُ فَعَقَرُوْهَا ۙفَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ بِذَنْۢبِهِمْ فَسَوّٰٮهَا ۙ(14)
(14) But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground).
(14) تو ان لوگوں نے اس کی تکذیب کی اور اس کی کونچیں کاٹ ڈالیں تو خدا نے ان کے گناہ کے سبب ان پر عذاب نازل کردیا اور انہیں بالکل برابر کردیا
وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبٰهَا(15)
(15) And He fears not its consequence.
(15) اور اسے اس کے انجام کا کوئی خوف نہیں ہے
