Mosque of Quba

On Monday, 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) entered a village called Quba which is 5 Kms. from Mecca near Medina on the Hijrat route. He stayed there till Friday so that H. Ali (a) returns the belongings entrusted to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) to their respective owners and join him after fulfilling other duties along with his family members. On the other hand, the people of Medina got ready to welcome the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.). The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) marked the boundaries of the Mosque with his spear on the ground. It is said that each of its sector was of 66 yards.

One who builds a mosque and recites Holy Quran in it with correct rules of recitation is successful.

The Mosque of Quba is renovated and extended many times: Muslims have a great regard for it. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) used to visit the Mosque of Quba every Monday and pray there. A tradition from him says that

One who performs wuzu at his house and goes to the Mosque of Quba and prays two units of prayer will get the reward of an Umrah.

Also, I. Sadiq (a) said,

When you visit the mosques around Medina, go to the Mosque of Quba first and pray there as far as possible.
